Woe to the rebellious one and the defiled one, the city that oppresses!
She did not hear a voice, she did not take discipline; she did not trust in Yahweh, she did not draw near to her God.
Her officials in her midst are roaring lions; her judges are wolves of the evening, who leave nothing for the morning.
Her prophets are reckless, men of treachery; her priests have profaned holiness, they have done violence to the instruction.
Yahweh is righteous in her midst, he does no injustice; morning by morning he gives his justice to the light, it is not lacking; but the unjust one knows no shame.
I have cut off nations; their corners are desolate; I have laid waste their streets, with no one who passes by; their cities are laid waste, with no man, with no one dwelling.
I said, Surely you will fear me, you will take discipline, and her dwelling place will not be cut off, whatever I appointed against her; but indeed they rose early, they corrupted all their deeds.
Therefore wait for me, the utterance of Yahweh, for the day of my rising as a witness; for my justice is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them my indignation, all the burning of my anger; for in the fire of my jealousy, all the land will be consumed.
For then I will turn the peoples to a purified lip, to call, all of them, on the name of Yahweh, to serve him shoulder to shoulder
From beyond the rivers of Cush, my worshippers, the daughter of my scattered ones, will bring my grain offering.
On that day you will not be ashamed of all your deeds, in which you rebelled against me; for then I will remove from your midst the jubilant ones of your pride, and you will no longer be haughty on my holy mountain.
And I will leave in your midst a humble and poor people, and they will take refuge in the name of Yahweh.
The remnant of Israel will do no injustice and will speak no lie, and a tongue of deceit will not be found in their mouth; for they will graze and lie down, and no one will terrify them.
Give a ringing cry, daughter of Zion; shout, Israel; be glad and exult with all the heart, daughter of Jerusalem.
Yahweh has removed your judgments, he has cleared away your enemy; the king of Israel, Yahweh, is in your midst; you will not fear evil again.
On that day it will be said to Jerusalem, Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands drop.
Yahweh your God is in your midst, a mighty man who will save; he will exult over you with gladness, he will keep silent in his love, he will rejoice over you with a ringing cry.
I have gathered those who grieve, away from the appointed time, away from you; they were a burden upon her, a reproach.
Behold, I am about to deal with all those who afflicted you at that time; and I will save the one who limps and gather the one who is banished, and I will make them into praise and a name in all the land of their shame.
At that time I will bring you in, and at the time I gather you; for I will make you a name and a praise among all the peoples of the land, when I restore your captivity before your eyes, Yahweh has said.
