Gather yourselves together and gather, O nation that does not yearn,
Before the decree brings forth—a day passes by like chaff—before the burning anger of Yahweh comes upon you, before the day of the anger of Yahweh comes upon you.
Seek Yahweh, all you humble ones of the land, who have practised his justice; seek righteousness, seek gentleness; perhaps you will be hidden on the day of the anger of Yahweh.
For Gaza will be abandoned, and Ashkelon a wasteland; Ashdod, at noon they will drive it out, and Ekron will be uprooted.
Woe to those who dwell in the region of the sea, the nation of the Kerethites! The word of Yahweh is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines: I will destroy you, so that there is no one who dwells there.
And the region of the sea will become pastures, wells for shepherds, and folds for the flock.
And the region will belong to the remnant of the house of Judah; upon them they will graze; in the houses of Ashkelon at evening they will lie down; for Yahweh their God will visit them and will turn back their captivity.
I have heard the taunting of Moab and the revilings of the sons of Ammon, who taunted my people and made themselves great against their boundary.
Therefore, as I live, the utterance of Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, surely Moab will be like Sodom and the sons of Ammon like Gomorrah: a place possessed by weeds and a pit of salt and a wasteland forever; the remnant of my people will plunder them, and the rest of my nation will take possession of them.
This is theirs in place of their pride, because they taunted and made themselves great against the people of Yahweh of hosts.
Yahweh will be awesome against them, for he will emaciate all the gods of the land; and each man from his own place will bow down to him, all the coastlands of the nations.
Also you, O Cushites, they are the slain of my sword.
And he will stretch out his hand against the north and destroy Assyria, and he will make Nineveh a wasteland, parched like the wilderness.
Herds will crouch in her midst, every beast of the nation; the pelican too, the porcupine too, will spend the night among her capitals; a voice will sing in the window, drought on the threshold, for he has laid bare the cedar-work.
This is the jubilant city that dwells in security, that says in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me; how she has become a waste, a lair for beasts! Everyone who passes by her will hiss, will shake his hand.
