Ruth3

Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, should I not seek rest for you, so that it may go well with you?

And now, is not Boaz our kinsman, whose maids you were with? Look, he is winnowing barley at the threshing floor tonight.

So bathe, anoint yourself, put on your clothes, and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.

And when he lies down, find out the place where he lies. Then go in, uncover his feet, and lie down; and he will tell you what you should do.

She said to her, All which you will say to me I will make.

So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything that her mother-in-law had commanded her.

Boaz ate and he drank, and his heart went well, and he went to lie down in the end of the pile; and she came in the secret and uncovered the place of his feet, and she lay down.

In the middle of the night, the man shuddered and turned over, and there was a woman lying at his feet.

He said, Who are you? She said, I am Ruth your maid-servant; you will spread abroad your wing over your maid-servant, for you are a kinsman-redeemer.

He said, May you be blessed by Yahweh, my daughter. You have made your loyal love better at the last than at the first, by not going after the young men, whether poor or rich.

And now, my daughter, do not be afraid. All that you say I will do for you, for all my people at the gate know that you are a woman of worth.

And now, it is true that I am a redeemer; but there is also a redeemer nearer than I.

Spend the night, and in the morning, if he will redeem you, good; he will redeem. But if he is not pleased to redeem you, then I will redeem you myself, as Yahweh lives. Lie down until morning.

So she lay at his feet until morning, and she rose before a man could recognize his fellow; and he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.

He said, Give me the shawl that is on you, and hold it out. So she held it out, and he measured out six measures of barley and put it on her; then he went into the city.

She came to her mother-in-law, and she said, How did it go, my daughter? Then she told her all that the man had done for her.

She said, He gave to me these six of the barleys, for he said to me, Do not go empty to your mother-in-law.

She said, Dwell, my daughter, until you will know how the word will fall; for the man will not rest, except he completed the word today.
