Romans4

What then will we say Abraham our ancestor according to the flesh to have discovered?

For if Abraham was justified by works, he has ground of boasting, but not toward God.

For what says the Scripture? Then Abraham trusted in God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness.

Now to the one working the wage is not reckoned according to favor but according to the debt;

however to the one not working, but believing on the One who justifies the ungodly, his trust is reckoned for righteousness.

Just as also David declares the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

Blessed are they of whom the lawless deeds are forgiven and of whom the sins are covered;

blessed is the man of whom the Lord certainly will not reckon sin.

Is this blessing then on the circumcision or also on the uncircumcision? For we are saying that the trust was credited to Abraham as righteousness.

How then was it credited? Being in circumcision or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision but in uncircumcision;

and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the trust that he had while in the uncircumcision; for him to be father of all those trusting in uncircumcision, for the righteousness to be credited also to them,

and father of circumcision to those not of circumcision only but also to those walking in the steps of the trust of our father Abraham during the uncircumcision.

For not through the Law was the promise to Abraham or to his descendants, that he being heir of the world, but through the righteousness of trust.

For if those of the Law are heirs, the trust has been made void and the promise has been nullified;

for law brings wrath; now where there is no law, neither is transgression.

Therefore it is of trust, that it may be according to favor, for the promise to be sure to all the seed, but not to that of the law only, also to that of the trust of Abraham, who is the father of us all —

even as it has been written that A father of many nations I have made you, before whom he trusted God, who is giving life to the dead and calling the things not into being as existing;

who against hope in hope trusted, for him to become the father of many nations according to that spoken; So will be your offspring;

and not having become weak in the trust, he considered his own body already expired, being about a hundred years old, and the lifelessness of the womb of Sarah,

but about the promise of God he did not waver through distrust, but was strengthened in trust, having given glory to God,

and having been fully assured that what He has promised, He is able also to do;

therefore also it was credited to him unto righteousness.

Now it was not written on his account alone that it was credited to him,

but also on our account, to whom it is about to be credited, to those who trust on the One who raised Jesus our Lord out from the dead,

who was delivered over for our trespasses and was raised for our justification.
