Romans11

Then I ask, did God reject his people? Never would it be! For I myself am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

God did not reject his people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know in Elijah what the Scripture says, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,

Lord, they have killed your prophets, and they have torn down your altars, and I myself were left alone, and they are seeking my life.

But what was the divine answer spoken to him? I have left to Myself seven thousand men who did not bow the knee to Baal.

Then thus also in the present appointed-time there has been a remnant according to the election of favor.

Now if by favor, no longer from works; otherwise the favor no longer would be favor. But if from works, no longer is it favor, since the work no longer is work.

Then what? What Israel is seeking, this it has not obtained, but the elect obtained it; and the rest were hardened,

Even as it has been written: God gave to them a spirit of stupor, eyes not to see and ears not to hear, unto the day of today.

And David says: Their table should be for a snare and for a trap and for a stumbling block and for a retribution to them;

Their eyes should be darkened, not to see, and their backs bend over for all times.

Then I say, did they stumble so that they may fall? Never would it be! But by their trespass is the salvation to the nations, so as to provoke them to jealousy.

However if their trespass is the riches of the world and their failure the riches of the nations, how much more their fullness?

Now to you the nations I am speaking; therefore upon as much as I myself indeed am a sent one of the nations, I magnify my ministry,

If at all I will provoke to jealousy my flesh and will rescue some of them.

For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will be the acceptance except life out from the dead?

Now if the firstfruit is holy, also the lump; and if the root is holy, also the branches.

However if some of the branches were broken off, and you yourself being a wild olive tree were grafted in among them and have become a fellow-partaker of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,

Do not boast over the branches; but if you boast against them, you yourself do not support the root, but the root supports you.

Then you will say, The branches were broken off that I myself may be grafted in.

Rightly so; by the distrust they were broken off, however you yourself have stood by trust. But be not high minded; be afraid;

For if God did not spare the branches according to nature, perhaps neither will He spare you.

Therefore behold the kindness and severity of God; upon those who fell indeed severity, however toward you the kindness of God, if you shall continue in the kindness; otherwise also you yourself will be cut off.

And they too, unless they shall continue in the distrust, then they will be grafted in; for God is able again to graft them in;

For if you yourself were cut off out of the wild olive tree according to nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more these who are according to nature will be grafted into their own olive tree?

For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, that you may not be wise beside yourselves, that a hardening in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the nations may come in,

And so all Israel will be saved, even as it has been written: The One Who delivers will come out of Zion, and He will remove ungodliness from Jacob;

And this is the covenant from Me to them, when I may take away their sins.

However as regards the good news indeed they are enemies on your account, as regards the election beloved on account of the patriarchs;

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Just as you yourselves once were disobedient to God, but now were shown mercy through their disobedience,

So also these now were disobedient to your compassion, so that also they themselves now may have mercy shown them.

For God has bound up the all in disobedience, that He may show mercy to the all.

O the depth of riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and untraceable his ways!

For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?

Or who has first given to Him, and it will be recompensed to him?

For from Him and through Him and unto Him are all things; to Him be the glory forever! Amen.
