A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.
O Lord, you have been a dwelling place to us in generation after generation.
Before the mountains were born, before you writhed in labor with the land and the world, even from forever to forever you are God.
You turn men back to crushed powder, and you say, Return, children of man.
For a thousand years in your eyes are like the day of yesterday when it passes, and like a watch in the night.
You flood them away; they are a sleep, in the morning like grass that sprouts anew.
In the morning it flourishes and sprouts anew; by evening it is cut short and dries up.
For we come to an end in your anger, and in your rage we are terrified.
You set our guilt before you, our hidden sins in the light of your face.
For all our days turn away in your fury; we finish our years like a moan.
The days of our years in them are seventy years, and if by strength eighty years, yet their pride is toil and trouble, for it passes swiftly and we fly away.
Who knows the strength of your anger, and your fury as great as the fear of you?
Make us know how to count our days in this way, that we may bring in a heart of wisdom.
Return, Yahweh! Until when? And be moved to pity over your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love, that we may ring out for joy and rejoice in all our days.
Make us rejoice according to the days you afflicted us, the years we saw evil.
Let your work appear to your servants, and your splendor upon their sons.
And may the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish for us the work of our hands; yes, the work of our hands, establish it.
