Psalms81

To the choirmaster, on the Gittith, of Asaph.

Ring out for joy to God our strength; shout to the God of Jacob.

Lift up a melody and set the tambourine, the pleasant lyre with the harp.

Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon, for the day of our festival.

For it is a statute for Israel, a justice of the God of Jacob.

He set it as a testimony in Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt; I heard a language I did not know.

I removed the burden from his shoulder; his palms passed away from the basket.

In distress you called and I pulled you free; I answered you in the hiding place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

Hear, my people, and let me warn you; O Israel, if only you would listen to me!

There shall not be a strange god among you, and you shall not bow down to a foreign god.

I am Yahweh your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt; open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.

But my people did not listen to my voice, and Israel was not willing toward me.

So I sent them away in the stubbornness of their heart, to walk in their own schemes.

If only my people would listen to me, if Israel would walk in my ways!

In a little while I would subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their opponents.

Those who hate Yahweh will cringe to him, and their time will be forever.

And he fed him with the best of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.
