To the choirmaster, over Jeduthun. Of Asaph, a psalm.
My voice is to God, and I cry out; my voice is to God, and he will give ear to me.
In the day of my distress I sought the Lord; my hand was stretched out in the night and would not grow numb; my being refused to be comforted.
I remember God and I murmur; I complain, and my breath faints away. Selah.
You hold the eyelids of my eyes; I am disturbed and I cannot speak.
I reckoned the days of long ago, the years of old.
I remember my music in the night; I muse with my heart, and my breath searches.
Will the Lord reject for the ages, and never again show favor?
Has his loyal love ceased for all time? Has the word come to an end for generation after generation?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Or has he shut up his compassion in anger? Selah.
And I said, This is my sickness: the years of the right hand of the Most High.
I will remember the deeds of Yahweh; for I will remember your wonder of long ago.
I will meditate on all your work, and on your deeds I will muse.
O God, your way is in holiness; who is a great god like God?
You are the God who does wonders; you made your strength known among the peoples.
With an arm you redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
The waters saw you, God; the waters saw you and writhed; even the deeps trembled.
The dark clouds poured out water; the clouds gave a sound; even your arrows went about.
The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind; the lightnings lit up the world; the land trembled and shook.
Your way was in the sea, your path in the great waters; and your footprints were not known.
You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
