A rambling poem of David, which he sang to Yahweh concerning the word of Cush the Benjaminite.
Yahweh my God, in you I have taken refuge; save me from all who pursue me, and deliver me,
lest, like a lion, he tear my being, ripping it away, and there is no deliverer.
Yahweh my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my palms,
if I have repaid evil to the one at peace with me, or rescued my opposer to no purpose,
Let an enemy pursue my being and overtake it, and trample my life to the land, and make my weightiness dwell in the dust. Selah.
Rise up, Yahweh, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my opposers, and awake for me; you have commanded justice.
Let a gathering of peoples go round you, and over it return to the height.
Yahweh judges the peoples. Judge me, Yahweh, according to my righteousness and my integrity upon me.
Please, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and establish the righteous, you who test hearts and kidneys, O righteous God.
My shield is upon God, who delivers the upright in heart.
God is a righteous judge, and God is indignant every day.
If he does not turn back, he whets his sword; he has bent his bow and made it ready.
And for himself he has made ready implements of death; his arrows he makes into burning ones.
Look, he is in labor with iniquity; he conceives toil and brings forth falsehood.
He dug a hole and delved into it, and he fell into the pit he made.
His toil returns on his head, and on his crown his violence comes down.
I will give thanks to Yahweh according to his righteousness, and I will sing praises to the name of Yahweh Most High.
