Psalms60

For the choirmaster, on the lily of testimony. An inscription of David, to teach; when he struggled against Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and Joab returned and struck Edom in the Valley of Salt, twelve thousand.

God, you have rejected us; you have burst us open; you were angry; restore us.

You have made the land quake; you have split it open; heal its fractures, for it is shaking.

You made your people see hard things; you made us drink wine of reeling.

You have set up a banner for those who fear you, to be raised up from the face of the bow. Selah.

So that your beloved ones may be rescued, save with your right hand, and answer me.

God has spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide up Shechem, and I will measure off the vale of Succoth.

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is the stronghold of my head, Judah my commander's staff.

Moab is my washing pot; over Edom I throw my sandal; over me, O Philistia, shout.

Who will bring me to the city of siege? Who has led me as far as Edom?

Have you not, God, cast us away? You do not go out, God, with our armies.

Give us help out of the tight place, for the deliverance of man is vain.

In God we will act with strength, and he will trample our enemies.
