Psalms58

For the choirmaster, 'Do Not Ruin.' Of David, an inscription.

Do you truly speak righteousness in silence? Do you judge the children of humankind with evenness?

Indeed, in the heart you practice injustice; in the land you weigh out the violence of your hands.

The wicked turn aside from the womb; they go astray from the belly, speakers of falsehood.

Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like a deaf cobra that stops its ear,

which does not listen to the voice of the whisperers, of the skilled one who ties spells.

God, demolish their teeth in their mouth; pull down the fangs of the young lions, Yahweh.

Let them vanish like waters that go about for themselves; when he bends his arrows, let them be cut off.

Like a snail that melts away as it goes, like the stillborn of a woman who never saw the sun.

Before your thorns perceive the bramble, he will sweep it away, still green, in burning anger.

The righteous will rejoice when he sees vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.

And humankind will say, "Surely there is fruit for the righteous; surely there is a God judging in the land."
