To the choirmaster. A poem of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech."
Why do you boast in evil, mighty man? The loyal love of God is all the day.
Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharpened razor, doer of deceit.
You loved evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking righteousness. Selah.
You loved all words of swallowing, O tongue of deceit.
God also will tear you down for all time; he will snatch you up and pull you away from the tent, and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.
The righteous will see and fear, and will laugh at him.
Look at the man who did not make God his stronghold, but trusted in the abundance of his wealth and grew strong in his destruction.
But I am like a leafy olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the loyal love of God forever and ever.
I will give thanks to you forever, for you have acted; and I will wait for your name, for it is good in the presence of your faithful ones.
