Psalms48

A song, a psalm, to the children of Korah.

Great is Yahweh and to be praised exceedingly in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

Beautiful in height, the joy of all the land, is the mountain of Zion, the flanks of the north, the city of the great king.

God, in her palaces, has made himself known as a stronghold.

For look, the kings assembled; they passed on together.

They saw, so they were astounded; they were terrified, they hurried away in alarm.

Trembling took hold of them there, anguish like a woman giving birth.

With a wind from the east you shatter the ships of Tarshish.

As we heard, so we have seen in the city of Yahweh of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. Selah.

We have thought on your loyal love, God, in the midst of your temple.

As your name, God, so your praise extends over the ends of the land; your right hand is full of righteousness.

Mount Zion will rejoice; the daughters of Judah will be glad, for the sake of your justice.

Walk around Zion and circle her; count her towers.

Set your heart to her ramparts, consider her palaces, so that you may recount it to a later generation.

For this God is our God forever and ever; he will lead us over death.
