Psalms2

Why do the nations rage, and the peoples mutter emptiness?

The kings of the land take their stand, and the rulers sit in council together against Yahweh and against his anointed.

Let us tear off their fetters, and let us throw their cords away from us.

The one who sits in the heavens will laugh; the Lord will despise them.

Then he will speak to them in his anger, and in his burning wrath he will terrify them.

And I have anointed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.

Let me recount the decree of Yahweh: he said to me, You are my son; today I have fathered you.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the land your possession.

You will break them with a rod of iron; like a potter's vessel you will dash them to pieces.

And now, kings, act wisely; be disciplined, judges of the land.

Serve Yahweh in fear, and rejoice in trembling.

Kiss the son, lest he be angry and you perish on the way, for his anger flares up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
