Psalms16

An inscription to David.

Keep me, God, for I have taken refuge in you.

You said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; my good is nothing beyond you.”

As for the holy ones who are in the land—they and the majestic ones—all my delight is in them.

Their pains will multiply, those who hurry after another. I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not lift up their names on my lips.

Yahweh is the share of my portion and of my cup; you hold up my lot.

Measuring lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed my inheritance is lovely to me.

I will bless Yahweh, who has counseled me; even at night my kidneys instruct me.

I have placed Yahweh in front of me always; for he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my weightiness rejoices; even my flesh will dwell in security.

For you will not leave my being to Sheol; you will not give your faithful one to see the pit.

You will make known to me the path of life; an abundance of gladness is with your face; pleasant things are at your right hand perpetually.
