Psalms144

Of David.

Blessed be Yahweh, my rock, who teaches my hands for battle, my fingers for war.

My loyal love and my stronghold, my high refuge and my deliverer, my shield; in him I have taken refuge, who subdues my people under me.

Yahweh, what is man that you know him, the son of men that you reckon him?

Man is like a vapor; his days are like a shadow passing.

Yahweh, bend your skies and come down; touch the mountains, and they will smoke.

Flash lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and throw them into confusion.

Stretch out your hands from the height; snatch me free and deliver me from great waters, from the hand of the sons of foreigners,

whose mouth speaks emptiness, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

God, a new song I will sing to you; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to you,

who gives deliverance to the kings, who snatches David his slave from the evil sword.

Snatch me free and deliver me from the hand of the sons of foreigners, whose mouth speaks emptiness, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

May our sons be like plants grown great in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars hewn in the pattern of a temple.

Our barns are full, providing kind after kind; our flocks bring forth thousands, multiplied to ten thousands in our streets.

Our chiefs are laden; there is no breach and no going out, and no outcry in our broad places.

Blessed is the people for whom it is thus; blessed is the people whose God is Yahweh.
