A psalm to David.
Yahweh, hear my prayer; give ear to my pleas; in your steadiness answer me, in your righteousness.
And do not go into justice with your slave, for no living person is righteous before you.
For an enemy has pursued my being; he has crushed my life to the land; he has made me dwell in dark places, like those dead forever.
And my breath faints over me; in my midst my heart is appalled.
I remember the days of old; I muse on all your deeds; I ponder the work of your hands.
I spread out my hands to you; my being is like an exhausted land to you. Selah.
Hurry, answer me, Yahweh; my breath is spent. Do not hide your face from me, or I will become like those who go down to the pit.
Make me hear in the morning your loyal love, for in you I trust; make known to me the way that I will go, for to you I lift up my being.
Deliver me from my enemies, Yahweh; with you I have taken cover.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your good breath lead me in a land of level ground.
For the sake of your name, Yahweh, you will keep me alive; in your righteousness you will bring my being out of distress.
And in your loyal love you will put an end to my enemies, and you will make perish all who hem in my being, for I am your slave.
