Psalms132

The song of the steps.

Yahweh, remember for David all his affliction.

How he swore to Yahweh, vowed to the mighty one of Jacob:

"I will not come in to the tent of my house; I will not go up onto the couch of my bed;

I will not give sleep to my eyes, slumber to my eyelids,

until I find a place for Yahweh, dwelling places for the mighty one of Jacob."

Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

Let us come to his dwelling places; let us bow down at the footstool of his feet.

Rise, Yahweh, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength.

Your priests will be clothed with righteousness, and your faithful ones will cry aloud for joy.

For the sake of David your slave, do not turn away the face of your anointed.

Yahweh swore to David in faithfulness; he will not turn back from it: "One from the fruit of your belly I will set on your throne.

If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies, which I will teach them, then their sons also will sit on your throne for all time."

For Yahweh has chosen Zion; he has desired it as a dwelling place for himself.

"This is my resting place for all time; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

Her provisions I will surely bless; her needy I will satisfy with bread.

And her priests I will clothe with rescue, and her faithful ones will surely cry aloud for joy.

There I will make a horn sprout for David; I have set a lamp in order for my anointed.

His enemies I will clothe with shame, and on him his crown will bloom."
