The song of the steps.
Many times they have bound me since my youth — let Israel say —
Many times they have bound me since my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me.
Over my back the plowmen have plowed; they have made their furrows long.
Yahweh is righteous; he has cut asunder the cord of the wicked.
May they be ashamed and turned backward, all who hate Zion.
They will be like the grass of the roofs, which withers before it is drawn out.
With which the reaper has not filled his palm, nor the sheaf-binder his bosom.
And those who pass by have not said, "The blessing of Yahweh be upon you; we bless you in the name of Yahweh."
