Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loyal love is forever.
Let the redeemed of Yahweh say so, those whom he redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
and gathered them together from the lands, from the east side and from the setting, from the north and from the sea.
They wandered about in the wilderness, in a wasteland, on a road; a city to dwell in they did not find.
Hungry and also thirsty, their being fainted away within them.
They cried out to Yahweh when they were in a tight place; from their anguish he delivered them.
He led them by a straight way, to go to a city to dwell in.
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love, and for his wonders to the children of man.
For he satisfied the greedily seeking being, and the hungry being he filled with good.
Those who sat in darkness and deep darkness, prisoners of affliction and iron,
for they rebelled against the words of God, and the counsel of the Most High they scorned.
So he humbled their heart with toil; they stumbled, and there was no helper.
Then they cried out to Yahweh when they were in a tight place; from their anguish he saved them.
He brought them out from the darkness and deep darkness, and tore apart their fetters.
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love, and for his wonders to the children of man.
For he broke down the doors of bronze, and the bars of iron he cut asunder.
Fools were afflicted because of the way of their transgression and because of their guilt.
Their being loathed all food, and they reached the gates of death.
Then they cried out to Yahweh when they were in a tight place; from their anguish he saved them.
He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their pitfalls.
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love, and for his wonders to the children of man.
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and recount his works with a ringing cry.
Those who went down to the sea in ships, who did work on great waters,
They saw the works of Yahweh, and his wonders in the deep.
He spoke and made a storm wind stand up, and it lifted its waves high.
They go up to the skies, they go down to the deeps; their being melts away in misery.
They reel giddily and totter like a drunkard, and all their wisdom is swallowed up.
Then they cried out to Yahweh when they were in a tight place, and from their anguish he brought them out.
He made the storm stand as a calm, and their waves were hushed.
Then they rejoiced, for they grew quiet; and he guided them to the harbor of their desire.
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love, and for his wonders to the children of man.
And let them raise him high in the company of the people, and in the seat of the elders let them praise him.
He makes rivers into a wilderness, and the springs of the waters into thirsty land,
A land of fruit into a salt waste, because of the evil of those who dwell in it.
He makes a wilderness into a pool of water, and parched land into springs of water.
There he made the hungry dwell, and they established a city for dwelling.
They sowed fields and planted vineyards, and produced fruit as their yield.
He blessed them and they multiplied greatly, and he did not let their livestock grow few.
Then they grew few and were bowed down, from the pressure of misery and sorrow.
He pours contempt upon the noble, and makes them wander in a formless waste where there is no way.
But he set the needy securely on high, away from affliction, and made families like a flock.
The upright see and rejoice, and all injustice shuts its mouth.
Who is wise? Let him keep these things, and let them consider carefully the loyal love of Yahweh.
