Psalms106

Praise Yahweh! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loyal love is forever.

Who can speak the mighty deeds of Yahweh, or make all his praise heard?

Blessed are those who keep justice, who do righteousness at all times.

Remember me, Yahweh, with the favor of your people; attend to me with your deliverance,

to see the good of your chosen ones, to rejoice in the joy of your nation, to boast with your inheritance.

We sinned along with our fathers; we perverted, we acted wickedly.

Our fathers in Egypt did not consider your wonders; they did not remember the abundance of your loyal love, and rebelled at the sea, at the Sea of Reeds.

He saved them for the sake of his name, to make known his might.

He rebuked the Sea of Reeds, and it dried up; he led them through the deeps as through a wilderness.

He saved them from the hand of the one who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

The waters covered their opponents; not one of them was left.

Then they believed his words; they sang his praise.

They hurried; they forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.

They craved a craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the wasteland.

He gave them what they asked, and sent wasting into their being.

They were envious of Moses in the camp, and of Aaron, the holy one of Yahweh.

The land opened wide and swallowed Dathan, and covered over the congregation of Abiram.

Fire burned among their congregation; the flame set the wicked ablaze.

They made a calf at Horeb and bowed down to a cast image.

They exchanged their weightiness for the pattern of an ox that eats grass.

They forgot God their deliverer, who did great things in Egypt,

wonders in the land of Ham, awesome things at the Sea of Reeds.

He said he would wipe them out, had Moses his chosen one not stood in the breach before him, to turn back his rage from destroying them.

They rejected the finest land; they did not believe his word.

They grumbled in their tents; they did not listen to the voice of Yahweh.

He raised his hand to them, to make them fall in the wilderness,

and to make their seed fall among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

They attached themselves to Baal of Peor and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

They provoked him to anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.

Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was restrained.

And it was reckoned to him as righteousness, to generation after generation, forever.

They provoked wrath at the waters of Meribah, and it went badly for Moses on their account,

for they rebelled against his breath, and he spoke rashly with his lips.

They did not wipe out the peoples, as Yahweh had said to them.

but they mingled with the nations and learned their deeds.

They served their idols, and these became a trap to them.

They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,

and poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was defiled with bloodshed.

They became unclean by their works, and played the prostitute by their deeds.

The anger of Yahweh burned against his people, and he abhorred his inheritance.

He gave them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.

Their enemies oppressed them, and they were humbled under their hand.

Many times he would deliver them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank low in their guilt.

He saw the tight place they were in, when he heard their ringing cry.

He remembered his covenant for them and took pity, according to the abundance of his loyal love.

He set them into compassion before the face of all their captors.

Save us, O Yahweh our God, and gather us from the nations, to give thanks to your holy name, to boast in your praise.

Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from forever to forever; and let all the people say, Amen! Praise Yah!
