Proverbs17

Better a dry morsel with quietness in it than a house full of feasting with strife.

A servant who acts wisely will rule over a son who brings shame, and among the brothers he will divide the inheritance.

A crucible is for silver and a furnace for gold, but Yahweh is the one who tests hearts.

An evil-doer pays attention to a lip of wickedness; a liar gives ear to a tongue of destruction.

One who mocks the poor reproaches his maker; one joyful at disaster will not go unpunished.

The crown of the old is children's children, and the splendor of children is their fathers.

A lip of superiority is not fitting for a fool; how much less a lip of falsehood for a noble.

A bribe is a stone of favor in the eyes of its owner; wherever he turns, he acts wisely.

One who covers a transgression seeks love, but one who repeats a word separates an intimate friend.

A rebuke goes down into one who understands more than a hundred blows into a fool.

Only rebellion seeks evil, and a cruel messenger will be sent against it.

Let a bear robbed of her young meet a man, but not a fool in his foolishness.

One who returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.

The beginning of conflict is one who lets out waters; so abandon the dispute before it breaks out.

One who justifies the wicked and one who condemns the righteous as guilty, both of them also are an abomination to Yahweh.

Why is this a price in the hand of a fool to acquire wisdom, when there is no heart?

At all times a friend loves, and a brother is born for distress.

A person lacking heart strikes a palm, pledging a pledge before his neighbor.

One who loves transgression loves fighting; one who makes his door high seeks a crash.

One twisted of heart does not find good, and one who is turned around in his tongue falls into evil.

One who begets a fool has grief for himself, and the father of a senseless one will not rejoice.

A joyful heart does good as healing, but a stricken breath dries up the bones.

A wicked one takes a bribe from the bosom to bend the paths of justice.

Wisdom lies before the face of one who understands, but the eyes of a fool are at the end of the land.

A foolish son is vexation to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him.

Also, to fine the righteous is not good, nor to strike the noble for uprightness.

One who restrains his words knows knowledge, and a man of understanding is rare of breath.

Even a fool who keeps silent is reckoned wise, one who shuts his lips, discerning.
