Numbers5

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

Command the children of Israel to send out from the camp everyone with a skin disease, everyone with a discharge, and everyone unclean through a being.

From male to female you shall send out; to outside the camp you shall send them, so that they do not defile their camps, where I dwell in the middle of them.

The children of Israel did so: they sent them away to the outside of the camp. As Yahweh had spoken to Moses, so the children of Israel did.

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

Speak to the children of Israel: When a man or a woman does any sin of humankind by committing a breach of faith against Yahweh, and that being becomes guilty,

then they will praise their sin which they made, and he will return his guilt in his head, and his fifth he will repeat over it, and he will set it to whom he bore guilt to it.

And if there is no kinsman-redeemer to the man to return the guilt to it, the guilt that is returned to Yahweh is to the priest, besides the ram of the atonements which will cover with it over it.

And every contribution from all the holy things of the children of Israel that they bring near to the priest shall belong to him.

And each man's holy things shall belong to him; whatever a man gives to the priest shall belong to him.

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: If any man's wife turns aside and commits a breach of faith against him,

and a man lies with her, a lying of seed, and it is concealed from her husband's eyes, and she is hidden, though she herself has become unclean; and there is no witness against her, and she was not caught,

and a spirit of jealousy passes over him, and he grows jealous of his wife, who has made herself unclean; or a breath of jealousy has passed over him, and he grows jealous of his wife, who has not made herself unclean;

then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring her present for her, a tenth of an ephah of barley flour; he shall not pour oil on it, nor put frankincense on it, for it is a grain offering of jealousies, a grain offering of remembrance, bringing guilt to remembrance.

The priest shall bring her near and make her stand before the face of Yahweh.

The priest shall take holy water in a vessel of earthenware, and some of the dust that is on the floor of the dwelling-place the priest shall take and put it into the water.

The priest shall make the woman stand before the face of Yahweh and let the woman's head go loose, and shall put the grain offering of remembrance on her palms—it is the grain offering of jealousies; and in the priest's hand shall be the bitter water that brings a curse.

The priest shall make her swear, and say to the woman: If no man has lain with you, and if you have not turned aside into uncleanness under your husband, be free from this bitter water that brings a curse.

But you, if you have turned aside under your husband, and if you have made yourself unclean, and a man has put his copulation in you, apart from your husband,

then the priest shall make the woman swear with the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman: May Yahweh make you a curse and an oath in the middle of your people, when Yahweh makes your thigh fall and your belly swell;

And this water that brings a curse shall go into your inward parts to make your belly swell and your thigh fall. And the woman shall say: Amen, amen.

The priest shall write these curses on a scroll and wipe them off into the bitter water.

He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and the water that brings a curse shall go into her to turn bitter.

The priest shall take from the hand of the woman the grain offering of the jealousies, and shall wave the grain offering before the face of Yahweh, and bring it near to the altar.

The priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorial offering and turn it to smoke on the altar; and after that he shall make the woman drink the water.

He shall make her drink the water; and it shall be, if she has made herself unclean and has committed a breach of faith against her husband, then the water that brings a curse shall go into her to turn bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall fall, and the woman shall become a curse in the midst of her people.

But if the woman has not made herself unclean and she is clean, then she shall be free and shall be made pregnant with seed.

This is the instruction of the jealousies: when a woman turns aside under her husband and makes herself unclean,

or a man over whom a spirit of jealousy passes and who is jealous of his wife: he shall make the woman stand before the face of Yahweh, and the priest shall do to her all this instruction.

The man shall be free of guilt, but that woman shall bear her guilt.
