And the heads of the fathers of the clan of the children of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the clans of the children of Joseph, drew near and spoke before the face of Moses and before the face of the princes, the heads of fathers of the children of Israel.
And they said, Yahweh commanded my lord to give the land by lot as an inheritance to the children of Israel, and my lord was commanded by Yahweh to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.
And if they become wives to one of the sons of the tribes of the children of Israel, then their inheritance will be reduced from the inheritance of our fathers and added to the inheritance of the tribe they will belong to, and from the lot of our inheritance it will be reduced.
And when the ram's horn blast comes to the children of Israel, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe they will belong to, and from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers their inheritance will be reduced.
And Moses commanded the children of Israel by the mouth of Yahweh, saying: The tribe of the children of Joseph speaks rightly.
This is the word that Yahweh has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying: Let them become wives to the one who is good in their eyes; only to a clan of the tribe of their father shall they become wives.
And no inheritance of the children of Israel shall turn about from tribe to tribe; for each of the children of Israel shall cling to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
And every daughter who takes possession of an inheritance from the tribes of the children of Israel shall become a wife to one from the clan of the tribe of her father, so that the children of Israel may each take possession of the inheritance of his fathers.
And no inheritance shall turn about from one tribe to another tribe; for each of the tribes of the children of Israel shall cling to his own inheritance.
Just as Yahweh commanded Moses, so the daughters of Zelophehad did.
And Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, became wives to the sons of their uncles.
They became wives from the clans of the children of Manasseh, son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained with the tribe of the clan of their father.
These are the commandments and the justices that Yahweh commanded by the hand of Moses to the children of Israel in the plains of Moab, at the Jordan near Jericho.
