¹Yahweh said to Aaron: You and your sons and the house of your father with you will bear the guilt of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you will bear the guilt of your priesthood.

²And also your brothers, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring near with you, so that they may join themselves to you and serve you; and you and your sons with you will be before the tent of the testimony.

³They will keep your duty, and the duty of all the tent; only to the articles of the holy place and to the altar they will not draw near, and they will not die—both they and you.

⁴They will join themselves to you, and keep the duty of the tent of meeting, for all the service of the tent; and a stranger will not come near to you.

⁵You will keep the duty of the holy place and the duty of the altar, so there will be no more wrath on the children of Israel.

⁶And I, look, I have taken your brothers the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel; to you a gift, given to Yahweh, to serve the service of the tent of meeting.

⁷You and your sons with you will keep your priesthood for every word of the altar and for what is inside the curtain, and you will serve. I give your priesthood as a service of gift; and the stranger who comes near will be put to death.

⁸Yahweh spoke to Aaron: And I, look, I have given you the charge of my contributions, along with all the holy gifts of the children of Israel; to you I have given them as a consecrated portion, and to your sons as an allotment forever.

⁹This will be yours from the most holy things, from the fire: every offering of theirs, for every grain offering of theirs, for every sin offering of theirs, and for every guilt offering of theirs, which they give back to me—it is most holy, for you and for your sons.

¹⁰In the most holy place you will eat it; every male will eat it; it will be holy for you.

¹¹And this is yours: the contribution of their gift, along with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel; to you I have given them, and to your sons and your daughters with you, as an allotment forever; every clean person in your house may eat it.

¹²All the richest of the fresh oil, and all the richest of the new wine and of the grain—their first part, which they give to Yahweh—to you I have given them.

¹³The firstfruits of all that is in their land, which they bring to Yahweh, will be yours; every clean person in your house may eat it.

¹⁴Every devoted thing in Israel will be yours.

¹⁵Every firstborn of the womb, of all flesh, which they bring near to Yahweh, among humans and among livestock, will be yours; only, you must surely redeem the firstborn of the human, and the firstborn of the unclean livestock you must redeem.

¹⁶And the redemption of them, from a month old, you will redeem by your estimate: silver, five shekels, by the shekel of the holy place—it is twenty gerahs.

¹⁷Only the firstborn of an ox, or the firstborn of a young sheep, or the firstborn of a she-goat you will not redeem; they are holy. Their blood you will sprinkle on the altar, and their fat you will turn to smoke, a fire offering, for an odor soothing to Yahweh.

¹⁸And their flesh will be yours, like the breast of the wave offering and like the right thigh; it will be yours.

¹⁹All the contributions of the holy gifts which the children of Israel offer up to Yahweh I have given to you, and to your sons and your daughters with you, as an allotment forever; it is a covenant of salt forever before the face of Yahweh, for you and for your seed with you.

²⁰Yahweh said to Aaron: In their land you will not have an inheritance, and no portion will be yours in their midst; I am your portion and your inheritance in the midst of the children of Israel.

²¹And to the children of Levi, look, I have given every tenth in Israel as an inheritance, in return for their service, which they are serving, the service of the tent of meeting.

²²And the children of Israel will not come near again to the tent of meeting, to bear sin and die.

²³The Levite himself will serve the service of the tent of meeting, and they will bear their guilt—a statute forever through your generations—and in the midst of the children of Israel they will not inherit an inheritance.

²⁴For the tenth of the children of Israel, which they offer up to Yahweh as a contribution, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore I said to them: in the midst of the children of Israel they will not inherit an inheritance.

²⁵Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

²⁶And to the Levites you will speak, and you will say to them: When you take from the children of Israel the tenth which I have given you from them as your inheritance, you will offer up from it a contribution of Yahweh, a tenth of the tenth.

²⁷And your contribution will be reckoned to you, like the grain from the threshing floor, and like the full yield from the winepress.

²⁸So you also will offer up the contribution of Yahweh from all your tenths which you will take from the children of Israel; and you will give from it the contribution of Yahweh to Aaron the priest.

²⁹From all your gifts you will offer up the whole contribution of Yahweh: from all its fat, its consecrated part, taken from it.

³⁰And you will say to them: When you lift up its fat from it, it will be reckoned to the Levites as the harvest of the threshing-floor and as the harvest of the wine-press.

³¹And you will eat it in any place, you and your house, for it is payment to you, in return for your service in the tent of meeting.

³²And you will not bear sin on account of it, when you lift up its fat from it; and you will not profane the sacred things of the children of Israel, and you will not die.
