Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had taken, for he had taken a Cushite woman.
They said, Has Yahweh spoken only by Moses? Has he not also spoken by us? And Yahweh heard.
Now the man Moses was humble very, more than all the men who were on the face of the ground.
Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron and to Miriam, Come out, the three of you, to the tent of meeting. And they went out, the three of them.
Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the tent, and called Aaron and Miriam, and they went out, both of them.
He said, Hear my words, please: if your prophet is Yahweh's, I make myself known to him in a vision; in a dream I speak with him.
Not so with my servant Moses: in all my house he is faithful.
Mouth to mouth I speak with him, in sight and not in riddles, and he looks at the form of Yahweh. So why were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?
The anger of Yahweh burned against them, and he went.
And the cloud removed from over the tent, and look, Miriam was leprous like snow; Aaron turned to Miriam, and look, she was leprous.
Aaron said to Moses, Pardon me, my lord: do not, please, set on us the sin in which we acted foolishly and in which we have sinned.
Do not, please, let her be like the dead, who, when he comes out of the womb of his mother, has half his flesh eaten.
Moses cried out to Yahweh, saying, O God, please, heal her, please.
Yahweh said to Moses, If her father had surely spat in her face, would she not be put to shame seven days? She shall be shut up seven days outside the camp, and after that she shall be gathered in.
And Miriam was shut up outside the camp seven days, and the people did not set out until Miriam was gathered in.
And after that the people set out from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.
