Mark15

And early upon the morning, when the chief priests had formed a counsel with the elders and scribes and all the Council, had bound Jesus, they led him away and delivered him to Pilate.

And Pilate questioned him, "Are you yourself the King of the Jews?" And answering, he says to him, "You yourself have spoken."

And the chief priests were accusing him of many things.

And Pilate again was questioning him, saying, "Do you not answer anything? See how many things they accuse you!"

But Jesus no longer answered no thing, so as to amaze Pilate.

Then at the festival he was releasing to them one prisoner, which they were requesting.

Then there was the one being named Barabbas, bound with the rebels, who in the insurrection had committed murder.

And when the crowd had come up, they began to beg him to do even as always he was doing for them.

But Pilate answered to them, saying, "Do you wish that I may release to you the King of the Jews?"

For he was aware that because of envy the chief priests had delivered him up.

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that instead he may release Barabbas to them.

And Pilate, again answering, was saying to them, "Then what do you wish that I may do to him you named the King of the Jews?"

And again they cried out, "Crucify him!"

And Pilate was saying to them, "Indeed, what evil did he commit?" But excessively they shouted, "Crucify him!"

And Pilate, desiring to do that which was satisfactory to the crowd, released Barabbas to them, and he delivered Jesus, having flogged him, that he may be crucified.

And the soldiers led him away into the palace, that is the Praetorium, and they call together all the cohort.

And they dress him in purple and placed on him a wreath, having twisted together of thorns.

And they began to salute him, "Hail, the King of the Jews!"

And they were striking his head with a reed and were spitting on him, and bending the knees they were kneeling down to him.

And when they had mocked him, they took off him the purple and put on him his garments. And they are leading him out, that they may crucify him.

And they compel one passing by, Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, that he may carry his cross.

And they bring him to Golgotha, a place which is being translated, of a Skull, the Place.

And they were offering him wine to drink, mixed with myrrh; however he did not take it.

And having crucified him, they also divide for themselves his garments, casting lots for them, who may take what.

Then it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

And there was the inscription of the accusation against him, written: "The King of the Jews."

And with him they crucify two robbers, one at the right hand and one at his left.

And the scripture was fulfilled which is saying, "And with the lawless was he credited."

And those passing by were denigrating him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You who are destroying the temple and building it in three days,

rescue yourself and descending from the cross!"

Now likewise also the chief priests, mocking among one another with the scribes, were saying, "Others he saved, himself he is not able to rescue;

the Anointed One, the King of Israel, let him descend now from the cross, that we may see and may trust in him." And those crucified with him were upbraiding him.

And when the hour sixth was now arriving, darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.

And on the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which is being translated, "O my God, O my God, to why have you forsaken me?"

And some of those who have stood by, listening, were saying, "Behold, he calls Elijah."

Then someone, having run and having filled a sponge with vinegar, having put both on a reed, was giving him to drink, saying, "Wait! Let us see if Elijah comes to take him down."

But Jesus, having uttered a loud cry, breathed his last.

And the veil of the temple was torn into two, from top until bottom.

Then when the centurion, who having stood opposite from him, had seen that, having cried out thus, he breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God."

Then there were also women looking on from afar off, among whom was also Mary the Magdalene and Mary the least, mother of James and of Joses, and Salome,

who, when he was in Galilee, were following him and they were ministering to him, and many other women having come up with him to Jerusalem.

And already when evening had arrived, since it was the Preparation, that is before Sabbath,

Joseph coming from Arimathea, a prominent Council member, who also himself was waiting for the kingdom of God, when he had boldness, he went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

And Pilate wondered if he has already died, and having called the centurion to him, he questioned him whether he had died of old.

And when he had known it from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

And when he had bought a linen cloth, and had taken him down, he wrapped him in the linen cloth and he laid him in a grave which was cut out of a rock, and he rolled a stone to the door of the tomb.

And Mary the Magdalene and Mary of Joses were watching where he has been laid.
