Now it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread after two days. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how, having taken him by stealth, they may kill him;
for they were saying, "Not during the festival, otherwise there will be an uproar of the people."
And when he is being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, when he is reclining, a woman came having an alabaster flask of fragrant oil of nard, pure, of great price; and when she had broken the alabaster flask, she poured it on his head.
Now some were indignant within themselves and saying, "To why this waste of the fragrant oil has been made?
For this fragrant oil was possible to have been sold for above three hundred denarii and to have been given to the poor." And they were grumbling at her.
And Jesus said, "Leave her alone, why do you cause trouble to her? A good work she did toward me.
For always you have the poor with yourselves, and whenever you may desire you are able always to do good for them, however me you do not always have.
What she had, this she performed; she came beforehand to anoint my body for the burial.
Now, Amen, I say to you, wherever this good news may be proclaimed in the whole world, also what this woman has done will be spoken of, for a memorial of her."
And Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he may betray him to them.
And when they had heard, they rejoiced and they promised to give him money; and he was seeking how, conveniently, he may deliver him up.
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they were to sacrifice the Passover lamb, his disciples say to him, "Where do you desire that, having gone, we may prepare, that you may eat the Passover?"
And he sends forth two of his disciples and says to them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him.
And wherever he shall enter, say to the master of the house that the Teacher says, 'Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'
And he himself will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready; and there prepare for us."
And his disciples went away and came into the city and found even as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
And when evening had arrived, he comes with the Twelve.
And when they were reclining and were eating, Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you that one of you will betray me, who is eating with me."
Now they began to be grieved and to say to him one by one, "Surely not ever I myself?" and another, "Surely not ever I myself?"
And he answered and said to them, "It is one of the Twelve, who is dipping with me in the one bowl.
For the Son of Man indeed goes even as it has been written concerning him, however woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed; better was it for him if that man was not born."
And when they are eating, when Jesus had taken bread, had spoken a blessing, he broke it and he gave it to them and said, "Take, eat, this is my body."
And when he had taken the cup, had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank of it.
And he said to them, "This is my blood, which is of a new covenant, which is being poured out for many.
Amen, I say to you that no longer will I ever drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God."
And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
And Jesus says to them that "All you will fall away in me in this night, for it has been written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'
But after I am raised, I will go before you into Galilee."
And Peter was saying to him, "Yet if even all will fall away, not I myself."
And Jesus says to him, "Amen, I say to you that yourself, now, this night, before the rooster crowing twice, three times you will deny me."
And overexceedingly he was saying more, "If it shall be needful to me to die with you, certainly I will not deny you." Now likewise also all of them were saying.
And they come to a place of which the name is Gethsemane, and he says to his disciples, "Sit here while I may pray."
And he takes Peter and James and John with him, and he began to be greatly awe-struck and to be deeply distressed.
And he says to them, "My being is very sorrowful, until death. Remain here and watch."
And when he had gone forward a little, he was falling upon the ground, and he was praying that, if it is possible, the hour shall pass from him.
And he was saying, "Abba, O Father, all things are possible to you; but take away this cup from me; it is not what I myself want, but what you."
And he comes and he finds them sleeping, and he says to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Surely you were able to watch one hour?
Watch and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, however the flesh weak.
And again, when he had gone away, he prayed, having said the same thing.
And again, when he had come, he found them sleeping; for their eyes were being wearied, and they knew not what they may answer to him.
And he comes the third time and says to them, "Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough, the hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of the sinful.
Rise, let us go; behold, the one who betrays me has drawn near!"
And immediately, while yet when he is speaking, comes up Judas, being one of the Twelve, Iscariot, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
Then the one delivering him up had given a sign to them, saying, "Whomever I may kiss, he himself is. Seize him and lead him away securely."
And when he had arrived, immediately he had come up to him, he says to him, "Rabbi!" And he kissed him.
And they laid their hands on him and seized him.
Then a certain one of those who have stood by, himself drawing the sword, struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.
And Jesus answered and said to them, "As against a robber, are you come out with swords and clubs to capture me?
Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me; but it is that the Scriptures may be fulfilled."
And having left him, all fled.
And a certain young man was accompanying him, having cast a linen cloth about his naked body, and the young men seize him.
And when he had left behind the linen cloth, naked, he fled from them.
And they led away Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes come together to him.
And Peter followed him from afar off, until within, to the court of the high priest, and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself at the fire.
And the chief priests and all the Council were seeking testimony against Jesus, to put him to death, but they were not finding any.
For many were bearing false testimony against him, but their testimonies were not alike.
And some, having risen up, were bearing false testimony against him, saying,
"We ourselves heard when he is saying that 'I myself will destroy this temple, the one made with hands, and in three days another, not made with hands, I will build.'"
And not thus was their testimony alike.
And when the high priest had stood up in the midst, he questioned Jesus, saying, "Do you not answer anything? What is it these testify against you?"
But he was silent and he did not answer anything. Again the high priest was questioning him and he says to him, "Are you the Anointed One, the Son of the Blessed One?"
And Jesus said, "I am, and you will behold the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of sky."
And the high priest, having torn his garments, says, "What need have we any more of witnesses?
You heard the blasphemy; what does it appear to you?" And all condemned him, deserving to be of death.
And some began to spit upon him and to cover up his face and to strike him and to say to him, "Prophesy!" And the officers received him with the palms.
And when Peter is being below in the courtyard, comes one of the servant girls of the high priest.
And when she had seen Peter warming himself, had looked at him, she says, "Also you yourself were with the Nazarene, Jesus."
But he denied it, saying, "Neither do I know nor even understand what you yourself say." And he went forth out into the porch, and the rooster crowed.
And the servant girl, having seen him, began again to say to those who have been standing by that "This one is of them."
But again he was denying. And after a little, again those who have stood by were saying to Peter, "Truly you are of them; also for you are a Galilean, and your speech resembles."
But he began to curse and to swear that "I know not this man whom you speak of!"
And immediately, for the second time, a rooster crowed, and Peter remembered the word, as Jesus had said to him, that "Before the rooster crowing twice, three times you will deny me." And when he had broken down, he was weeping.
