Mark12

And he began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard, and he placed a fence around it and dug a wine vat and built a tower and rented it out to farmers and traveled abroad.

And at the due time he sent a slave to the farmers, that he may receive from the farmers from the fruits of the vineyard.

But when they had taken him, they beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

And again he sent another slave to them; and him, stoning, they struck on the head and sent away dishonored.

And again he sent another; and him they killed, also many others, some indeed beating, however some killing.

Yet he did have one son, his beloved; therefore he sent him last to them, saying that 'They will have respect for my son.'

However those farmers said to themselves that 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'

And when they had taken him, they killed him and cast him forth outside the vineyard.

Therefore what will the master of the vineyard do? He will come and he will destroy the farmers and will give the vineyard to others.

Have you not even read this Scripture: 'The stone which those building rejected, this has become the chief of the corner;

this was from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?"

And they were seeking to lay hold of him, and they feared the crowd; for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them. And when they had left him, they went away.

And they send to him some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they may catch him in discourse.

And when they had come, they say to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and there is no care to you about anyone; for you do not look on the appearance of men, but on the basis of the truth you teach the way of God. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?

Shall we pay or shall we not pay?" And he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why do you test me? Bring me a denarius that I may see it."

And they brought it. And he says to them, "Of whom is this likeness and the inscription?" And they said to him, "Caesar's."

And answering, Jesus said to them, "Give back the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God." And they were amazed at him.

And Sadducees, who say a resurrection is not being, come to him, and they were questioning him, saying,

"Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if anyone's brother shall die and may leave behind a wife and may not leave a child, that his brother shall take his wife and may raise up seed for his brother.

There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and dying he left no seed.

And the second took her and died, and not himself having left seed; and the third likewise;

and the seven took her and did not leave offspring. Last of all the woman also died.

Therefore in the resurrection, when they may rise, of which of them will she be wife? For the seven had her as wife."

And Jesus, saying to them, said, "Surely because of this do you err, not knowing the Scriptures nor knowing the power of God?

For when they may rise out from the dead, neither do they marry nor are given in marriage, but are like messengers in the heavens.

Now concerning the dead, that they rise, surely you have read in the book of Moses, on the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, 'I myself am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob'?

But he is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living; therefore you yourselves greatly err."

And when one of the scribes had come up, having heard when they are reasoning together, seeing that he answered them well, he questioned him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"

Now Jesus answered to him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Listen, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is One;

and you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your being and with all your mind and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.

And the second is like this: You will love your neighbour as yourself. There is not another commandment greater than these.

And the scribe said to him, "Right, Teacher, according to truth you have spoken, that he is One God, and there is not another besides him.

And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and from all the being and with all the strength, and to love the neighbour as oneself, is more excessive than all the burnt offerings and the sacrifices.

And Jesus, when he had seen him, that he answered wisely, said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And no one no longer was daring to question him.

And Jesus answered and said, teaching in the temple, "How do the scribes say that the Anointed One is the son of David?

For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet."'

Therefore David himself names him Lord, then how is he his son?" And the great crowd was listening to him gladly.

And in his teaching he was saying to them, "Beware of the scribes who are desiring to walk about in robes, and greetings in the marketplaces,

and first seats in the synagogues and first places at the feasts,

those who devour the houses of the widows and, as a pretext, praying at great length. These will receive more excessive judgment."

And when Jesus had sat down opposite the treasury, he was watching how the crowd cast money into the treasury; and many rich were casting in much.

And when one poor widow had come, she cast in two lepta, which is a penny.

And having called his disciples to him, he says to them, "Amen, I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than all of those casting into the treasury;

for all cast in out of that which is abounding to them, however she, out of her poverty, cast in all, as much as she had, all her livelihood."
