¹And I said: Hear, please, heads of Jacob and commanders of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?

²You who hate good and love evil, who tear away their skin from them and their flesh from off their bones.

³who have eaten the flesh of my people, stripped their skin off them, broken their bones in pieces, and split them apart as in a pot, like flesh in the middle of a cauldron.

⁴Then they will cry out to Yahweh, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, since they have done evil in their deeds.

⁵Thus says Yahweh against the prophets who make my people wander, who bite with their teeth and cry out 'wholeness,' but whoever puts nothing into their mouths, they set apart a war against him.

⁶Therefore it will be night for you, with no vision, and it will grow dark for you, with no divining; the sun will set on the prophets, and the day will turn dark over them.

⁷The seers will be ashamed, and the diviners will be abashed; all of them will cover their upper lips, for there is no answer from God.

⁸But I am full of strength, with the breath of Yahweh, and of justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.

⁹Hear this, please, heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who loathe justice and make crooked everything that is straight.

¹⁰who build Zion with bloodshed and Jerusalem with injustice.

¹¹Her heads judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets divine for silver; yet they lean on Yahweh, saying, 'Is Yahweh not in our midst? No evil will come upon us.'

¹²Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house will be wooded heights.
