Woe to those who plan wickedness and those who do evil upon their beds; in the light of the morning they do it, for it lies in the power of their hand.
They desire fields and seize them, and houses, and take them away; they oppress a man and his household, a man and his inheritance.
Therefore thus says Yahweh: Look, I am planning evil against this clan, from which you will not remove your necks, and you will not walk proudly, for it will be an evil time.
On that day someone will lift up a proverb over you and lament with a wailing, 'It is done!' He will say, 'We are utterly devastated; he exchanges the portion of my people. How he removes it from me! To a traitor he divides our fields.'
Therefore you will have no one who casts a measuring-cord by lot in the assembly of Yahweh.
'Do not drip,' they drip; 'they must not drip about these things; disgrace will not be turned back.'
Is it said, house of Jacob, 'Has the breath of Yahweh grown short? Or are these his deeds?' Do my words not do good with the one who walks uprightly?
Yet lately my people rise up as an enemy; from in front of the cloak you strip off the mantle, from those who pass by in security, who return from war.
You drive out the women of my people from the house of her delights; from her infants you take away my splendor forever.
Rise up and go, for this is not the resting place; because it has become unclean, it will destroy with a grievous pang.
If a man walked in wind and falsehood and told a lie: 'I will drip for you of wine and strong drink,' he would be the dripper for this people.
I will surely gather all of you, Jacob; I will surely gather together the remnant of Israel; I will set it together like sheep in a sheepfold, like a herd in the middle of its pasture; they will be in a stir because of people.
The one who breaks through will go up ahead of them; they will break through, pass through the gate, and go out by it; their king will pass on ahead of them, and Yahweh at their head.
