And it came to pass, when Jesus finished these words, He withdrew from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond Jordan.
And great crowds followed Him, and He healed them there.
And the Pharisees came to Him, testing Him and saying to him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for every cause?"
Now He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that the One who created them from the beginning made them male and female,
and said, 'On account of this a man will leave the father and the mother and will cling to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?
So that they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God united together, man should not separate."
They say to Him, "Why then did Moses command to give a roll of divorce and to send her away?"
He says to them that Moses, in view of the hardness of your heart, allowed you to divorce your wives; however from the beginning it was not this way.
Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and the one having married a divorced woman commits adultery."
His disciples say to Him, "If this is the case of the man with the wife, it is not better to marry."
And He said to them, "Not all receive this word, but only those to whom it has been given.
For there are eunuchs who from the womb of their mother were born thus, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by the men, and there are eunuchs who made eunuchs of themselves for the sake of the kingdom of the heavens. The one being able to receive it, he should receive it."
Then little children were brought to Him, that He may lie the hands on them and He may pray; however the disciples rebuked them.
And Jesus said, "Permit the little children and do not forbid them to come to Me; for of such kind is the kingdom of the heavens."
And when he had laid the hands upon them, He departed from there.
And behold, one having come to Him said, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?"
And He said to him, "Why do you ask Me about what is good? One is the good, except one God. However, if you desire to enter into the life, keep the commandments."
He says to him, "Which commandments?" And Jesus was speaking, "You will not murder, you will not commit adultery, you will not steal, you will not bear false witness,
honor your father and the mother, and you will love your neighbour as yourself.'"
The young man says to him, "All these I have kept from my youth. What yet do I lack?"
Jesus was saying to him, "If you desire to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor; and you will have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow Me."
Now when the young man had heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one having many possessions.
And Jesus said to his disciples, "Amen, I say to you that a rich man will enter into the kingdom of the heavens with difficulty.
Now again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
Now having heard, his disciples were astonished exceedingly, saying, "Who then is able to be saved?"
Now Jesus, having looked on them, said to them, "With men this is impossible, however with God all things are possible."
Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Behold, we ourselves left all things and we followed You; what then will be to us?"
And Jesus said to them, "Amen, I say to you that you yourselves who having followed Me, in the regeneration, when the Son of Man may sit down upon the throne of his glory, you yourselves also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.
However many first will be last, and last first.
