Matthew17

And after six days Jesus takes with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain on their own.

And He was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as the light.

And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with Him.

Now Peter answered and said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here. If You wish, I will make here three tents, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah.

While he is yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.

And the disciples, having heard it, fell upon their face and were greatly terrified.

And Jesus came, and when He had touched them, He said: Rise up, and be not afraid.

When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.

And when they are descending from the mountain, Jesus instructed them, saying: Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen out from the dead.

And His disciples asked Him, saying: Why then do the scribes say that Elijah it behooves to come first?

And Jesus answered and said to them: Elijah indeed comes first and will restore all things;

However I say to you that Elijah already is come, and they knew him not, but did to him as much as they desired. Thus also the Son of Man is about to suffer from them.

Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them concerning John the Baptist.

And when they were coming to the crowd, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him,

and saying: Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic and miserably suffers; for often he falls into the fire and often into the water.

And I brought him to your disciples, and they were not able to heal him.

Now Jesus answered and said: O untrusting and perverted generation, until when will I be with you? Until when will I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.

And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out from him, and the boy was healed from that hour.

Then the disciples, when they had come to Jesus in private, said: Because of why were we ourselves not able to cast it out?

And Jesus spoke to them: Because of your little faith. For amen I say to you, if you shall have trust as a seed of mustard, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and no thing will be impossible for you.

Now this kind goes not out except with prayer and with fastings.

Now when they are abiding in Galilee, Jesus said to them: The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men,

and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up. And they were deeply grieved.

Now when they are coming to Capernaum, those collecting the didrachmas came to Peter and said: Surely your Teacher pays the didrachmas?

He says: Yes. And when he had entered into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying: What do you think, Simon? The kings of the land, from whom do they receive custom or tribute? From their sons or from the strangers?

Now when he was saying, Peter, From the strangers, Jesus was saying to him: Then surely the sons are free.

But that we may not offend them, having gone to the sea, cast a hook, and take the first fish having been raised; and when you had opened its mouth, you will find a four-drachma coin. That which, having taken, give to them for Me and yourself.
