Matthew11

And it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding his twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

And John, having heard in the prison the works of the Anointed One, having sent on account of his disciples,

said to Him: Are you yourself the coming One, or are we to look for another?

And Jesus answered and said to them: Having gone, relate to John what you hear and see:

the blind receive sight, and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them;

and blessed is he who shall not fall away in Me.

Now as these were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: What went you out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in delicate garments? Behold, those wearing the delicate clothing are in the houses of kings;

but what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you; and one more excellent than a prophet.

For this is he concerning whom it has been written: Behold, I myself send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before You.

Amen I say to you: among those born of women has not been raised one greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.

Then from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence, and the violent claim it.

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

And if you are willing to receive it, he himself is Elijah who is about to come.

The one who has ears, he should hear.

But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the markets, who calling out to their others

and saying: We piped for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge to you, and you did not wail.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say: He has a demon!

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say: Behold a man, a glutton and a drunkard, a dear one of tax collectors and of sinners! But wisdom is justified by her deeds.

Then He began to denounce the cities in which the most of his miracles had taken place, because they did not repent;

Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if in Tyre and Sidon had taken place the miracles which have come to pass in you, long ago then they would have repented in sackcloth and ashes.

But I say to you: it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

And you yourself, Capernaum, surely you will not be lifted up to the heaven? You will go down to Hades! For if in Sodom had happened the miracles that were happening in you, it would then have remained until the day.

But I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.

At that very appointed-time Jesus answered and said: I fully consent to You, Father, Lord of the skies and the earth, for You did hide these things from the wise and learned, and did reveal them to little children.

Yes, O Father, for thus it was well-pleasing before You.

All things were delivered to Me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father only, nor does anyone know the Father except the Son only, and to whom the Son may choose to reveal Him.

Come to Me, all you who are toiling and burdened, and I myself will give rest to you.

For take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
