Matthew1

The book of the genealogy of Jesus the Anointed One, son of David, son of Abraham.

Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat Judah and his brothers.

And Judah begat Perez and Zerah out of Tamar, and Perez begat Hezron, and Hezron begat Ram.

And Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon.

And Salmon begat Boaz out of Rahab, and Boaz begat Obed out of Ruth, and Obed begat Jesse.

And Jesse begat David the king, and David the king begat Solomon out of the wife of Uriah.

And Solomon begat Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begat Abijah, and Abijah begat Asaph.

And Asaph begat Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Uzziah.

And Uzziah begat Jotham, and Jotham begat Ahaz, and Ahaz begat Hezekiah.

And Hezekiah begat Manasseh, and Manasseh begat Amos, and Amos begat Josiah.

And Josiah begat Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the carrying away to Babylon.

And after the carrying away to Babylon, Jeconiah begat Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel.

And Zerubbabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor.

And Azor begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Achim, and Achim begat Eliud.

And Eliud begat Eleazar, and Eleazar begat Matthan, and Matthan begat Jacob.

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, out of whom was born Jesus, who is named the Anointed One.

Therefore all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David until the carrying away to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the carrying away to Babylon until the Anointed One fourteen generations.

Now the origin of Jesus the Anointed One was happening thus: at the pledging of his mother Mary to Joseph, before they were to come together, she was found having pregnancy in the womb out of the Holy Spirit.

Now Joseph her husband, being righteous and not willing to disgrace her, purposed to send her away secretly.

Now when he was pondering these things, behold, a messenger of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying: Joseph, son of David, do not fear to receive Mary as your wife, for that having been conceived in her is from the Spirit which is Holy.

And she will bear a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he himself will rescue his people from their sins.

And all this has come to pass that there may be fulfilled that which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:

Behold, the virgin will have pregnancy in the womb and she will bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel, which is translated: God with us.

And when Joseph had been awoken from the sleep, he did as the messenger of the Lord commanded him, and received his wife.

And he was not knowing her until she had brought forth her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus.
