And it came to pass soon afterward that He Himself was traveling throughout city and village, preaching and bringing good news of the kingdom of God; and the Twelve were with Him,
and certain women who were cured from evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
and Joanna the wife of Chuza, a steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who were ministering to them out of their possessions.
Now when a great crowd were assembling, and those from each town were coming to Him, He spoke through a parable:
The one sowing went out to sow his seed; and in his sowing, some indeed fell along the road, and it was trampled upon, and the birds of the skies devoured it.
However other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up it withered through not having moisture.
And other fell in the midst of the thorns, and the thorns having sprung up with it choked it.
And other fell upon the good soil, and having sprung up it produced fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things He was calling out: The one who has ears to hear, he should hear.
Then His disciples were asking Him, saying: What would this parable mean?
And He said: To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; however to the rest it is in parables, so that seeing they shall not see, and hearing they shall not understand.
Now this is the parable: The seed is the word of God.
Now those along the road are the ones who heard; then the accuser comes and takes away the word from their heart, that not having believed they may be saved.
Now those upon the rock are those who, when they may hear, receive the word with joy; and these have not a root, who for an appointed-time trust and in appointed-time of testing fall away.
Now that having fallen into the thorns, these are those who heard, and moving along under cares and riches and the pleasures of life are choked, and do not mature.
Now that in the good soil, these are those in a worthy and good heart who, when they had heard the word, keep it, and they bring forth fruit by perseverance.
Now no one, having lighted a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter in may see the light.
For nothing is hidden which will not become manifest, nor is secret which will never be known and come to light.
Therefore take heed how you hear; for whoever has, it will be given to him, and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken away from him.
Then the mother and his brothers came to Him, and they were not able to get to Him because of the crowd.
And it was told also to Him, saying: Your mother and your brothers have stood outside, wanting to see You.
But He answered and said to them: My mother and my brothers are those who are hearing the word of God and doing it.
And it came to pass then on one of the days that He Himself also climbed into a boat with his disciples, and He said to them: Let us pass over to the other side of the lake. And they launched out.
Then when they were sailing He fell asleep, and a storm of wind came down on the lake, and they were being swamped and were in danger.
Then when they had come to Him, they awoke Him, saying: Master, we are perishing! And when He had arisen up, He rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; and they ceased, and there was a calm.
Then He said to them: Where is your trust? Then having been afraid they marveled, saying to one another: Then who is this, for even to the winds He commands and to the water, and they obey Him?
And they sailed down to the region of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.
Then having gone forth to the land, there met with Him a certain man out of the city who is having demons; and for a long time he was not wearing clothing, and was not abiding in a house but in the tombs.
Then when he had seen Jesus and had cried out, he fell down before Him and in a loud voice said: What to me and to You, Jesus, the Son of God Most High? I implore You, may You not torment me!
For He was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man; for many times it had seized him, and he was shackled with chains and being kept in fetters, and breaking the chains he was driven by the demon into the deserts.
Now Jesus asked him, saying: What is your name? And he said: Legion; because many demons were entered into him.
And they were begging Him that He would not command them to go away into the abyss.
Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding in the mountain, and they begged Him that He would allow them to enter into them; and He allowed them.
Then having gone out from the man, the demons entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
Then when those feeding them had seen what was already happening, they fled, and when they had gone they reported it to the city and to the country.
Then they went out to see that having happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting, clothed and being of sound mind, at the feet of Jesus; and they were afraid.
Then those who saw it related to them how the one having been demonised was healed.
And all the multitude of the surrounding region of the Gerasenes asked Him to depart from them, because they were seized with great fear; now He Himself, having climbed into the boat, turned back.
However the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him to be taken with Him; however Jesus sent him away, saying:
Return to your house and relate how much God has done for you. And he departed through all the city, proclaiming how much Jesus did for him.
Then it came to pass, when Jesus is returning, the crowd received Him; for they were all looking for Him.
And behold, there came a man whose name was Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue; and when he had fallen at the feet of Jesus, he was begging Him to come to his house,
because an only daughter was to him, about twelve years old, and she was dying. Then as He is to go, the crowds were pressing around Him.
And a woman being with a flux of blood for twelve years, who having spent all her living on physicians, neither was able to be healed by no one,
when she had come behind Him, she touched the fringe of his cloak, and immediately the flux of her blood stopped.
And Jesus said: Who is the one who touched Me? However when everyone is denying it, Peter and those with him said: Master, the people surround You and press in, and You say which one who touched me?
But Jesus said: Someone touched Me; for I myself know power having left from Me.
Then when the woman had seen that she was not hid, trembling she came, and when she had fallen down before Him she declared to him, before all the people, for what cause she touched Him, and how she was healed immediately.
And He said to her: Take courage, daughter, your trust has healed you; go in wholeness.
Still when he is speaking, comes one from the synagogue ruler, saying to him that your daughter has died; no longer trouble the Teacher.
But Jesus, when He had heard, answered to him, saying: Fear not; only trust, and she will be saved.
Then when he had entered into the house, He did not allow anyone to go in with Him except only Peter and John and James, and the father of the child and the mother.
Now they were all weeping and they were mourning for her. But He said: Weep not; for she is not dead but sleeps.
And they were laughing at Him, knowing that she was dead.
Now He Himself, having taken all outside, and having taken hold of her hand, called out, saying: O Child, arise.
And her spirit returned, and she arose immediately, and He directed for her to be given to eat.
And her parents were amazed; and He commanded them to tell no one what had happened.
