Luke7

And since He had completed all his words in the hearing of the people, He entered into Capernaum.

Now a certain slave of a centurion, who was valued highly by him, was sick and about to die.

And when he had heard about Jesus, he sent to Him elders of the Jews, begging Him that He may come and save his slave.

And having come to Jesus, they were begging Him earnestly, saying that he is worthy to whom You will grant this;

for he loves our nation, and the synagogue he himself built for us.

And Jesus was going with them. Then, already when he was not far distant from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to Him: Lord, be not troubled; for I am not worthy that You may come under my roof,

therefore neither counted I myself worthy to come to You. But say a word, and let my servant be healed.

For I myself also am a man appointed under authority, having soldiers under myself. And I say to this one: go, and he goes; and to another: come, and he comes; and to my slave: enact this, and he enacts it.

Then having heard these things, Jesus marveled at him; and when he had turned to the crowd following Him, He said: I say to you, not even in Israel did I find such great trust.

And having returned to the house, the ones having been sent found the ailing slave in good health.

And it came to pass on the next day He went into a town being called Nain, and his many disciples and a great crowd were going with Him.

Then as He drew near to the gate of the town, behold, one having died was being carried out, the only begotten son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a considerable crowd of the town was with her.

And when the Lord had seen her, He was moved with compassion on her, and He said to her: Weep not.

And when he had come up, He touched the bier; then those bearing it stopped; and He said: Young man, to you I say, be raised.

And the dead man sat up and began to speak; and He gave him to his mother.

Then fear seized all, and they were glorifying God, saying that a great prophet was raised up among us! and that God has visited his people!

And this report went out in all Judea concerning Him, and in all the surrounding region.

And his disciples brought word to John concerning all these things. And John, having called near two certain of his disciples,

sent them to the Lord, saying: Are You yourself the coming One, or are we to look for another?

Then having come to Him, the men said: John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying: Are You yourself the coming One, or are we to look for another?

Now at that very hour He healed many of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits, and to many blind He granted to see.

And answering, Jesus said to them: Having gone, relate to John what you have seen and heard: that blind receive sight, lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and deaf hear, dead are raised, poor have good news proclaimed to them,

and blessed is who might not be offended in Me.

Then when the messengers of John were departing, He began to speak to the crowds concerning John: What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

But what have you gone out to see? A man arrayed in fine clothing? Behold, those in splendid clothing and living in luxury are in the palaces.

But what have you gone out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you; and one more excellent than a prophet.

This is he concerning whom it has been written: Behold, I myself send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before You.’

For I say to you; among those born of women no one is a greater prophet than John. Yet the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

And all the people having heard, even the tax collectors, declared God as righteous, having been immersed with the immersion of John.

But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God as to themselves, not having been immersed by him.

Now the Lord said: To what therefore will I liken the men of this generation, and to what are they like?

They are like little children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, and says: We piped to you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge to you, and you did not weep.

For John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say: He has a demon.

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say: Behold, a man a glutton and a drunkard, a dear one of tax collectors and of sinners.

And the wisdom was justified by all her children.

Now one of the Pharisees was asking Him that He may eat with him; and when he had entered into the house of the Pharisee, He was sat.

And behold, a woman who was in the city a sinner. And she, having known that He reclines back in the house of the Pharisee, having taken an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,

and when she had stood behind at his feet weeping with the tears, she began to wet his feet, and with the hairs of her head she was wiping them, and was kissing his feet, and was anointing them with the fragrant oil.

Now when the Pharisee, the one who had invited Him, had seen this, he spoke within himself, saying: This, if He was the prophet, then he would have known who and what the woman is who touches Him, that she is a sinner.

And Jesus answered and said to him: Simon, I have something to say to you. And he says: Teacher, say it.

There were two debtors to a certain creditor. The one was owing five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

Now nothing were they having to pay, he forgave both. Which of them therefore will love him more, tell.

Now Simon answered and said: I take it that he to whom he forgave the most. And He said to him: You have judged rightly.

And when he had turned to the woman, He was saying to Simon: See you this woman? I entered into your house, water for my feet you gave not to Me; however she wet My feet with the tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.

A kiss you gave not to Me; however she herself, from which time I came in, has not ceased kissing My feet.

With oil you did not anoint my head; however she herself anointed my feet with fragrant oil.

Because of this I say to you, her many sins have been forgiven, for she loved much; however to whom little is forgiven, he loves little.

Then He said to her: Your sins have been forgiven.

And those reclining began to say within themselves: Who is this who even forgives sins?

Then He said to the woman: Your trust has saved you; go in wholeness.
