Luke22

Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is being named Passover, was drawing near,

and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they may kill him; for they were afraid of the people.

Then the adversary entered into Judas who is being called Iscariot, being of the number of the Twelve.

And when he had gone away, he spoke with the chief priests and the captains how he may betray him to them.

And they rejoiced and they agreed to give him money.

And he promised, and was seeking opportunity to betray him to them apart from a crowd.

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which it was necessary for the Passover lamb to be sacrificed.

And he sent Peter and John, having said: Having gone, prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.

And they said to him: Where do you want that we may prepare?

And he said to them: Behold, when you are entering into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into the house into which he enters;

and you will say to the master of the house: The Teacher says to you: Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?

And he will show you a large furnished upper room; there prepare.

Then when they had gone, they found it even as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.

And when the hour was come, he reclined, and the twelve sent ones with him.

And he said to them: With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;

for I say to you that I shall certainly no longer eat from it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

And having received the cup, when he had given thanks, he said: Take this and divide it among yourselves;

for I say to you that I shall certainly not drink from now of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.

And when he had taken the bread, had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying: This is my body which is given for you; perform this in my remembrance.

And likewise the cup after the eating, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood which is being poured out for you.

But behold, the hand of the one betraying me is with me on the table.

For the Son of man indeed goes according to that which is determined; but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed.

And they themselves began to question among themselves who then it would be of them who is about to do this.

Then there was also a dispute among them, which of them is thought to be the greatest.

And he said to them: The kings of the nations rule over them, and those exercising authority over them are called benefactors.

But you shall not be thus; instead the greater among you, he should become as the younger, and the one who leads as the one who serves.

For who is greater, the one who reclines or the one who serves? Surely the one who reclines? Yet I myself am in your midst as the One who serves.

Now you yourselves are those who have remained with me in my trials.

And I myself appoint to you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed to me,

so that you may eat and may drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Now the Lord said: Simon, behold, the adversary demanded to have you all, to sift you like the wheat.

But I myself begged for you that your trust may not fail; and you yourself, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

And he said to him: Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.

And he said: I tell you, Peter, the rooster will certainly not crow today until you have denied three times that you know me.

And he said to them: When I sent you without purse and bag and sandals, did you lack anything? And they said: No thing.

Then he said to them: But now the one who has a purse, he should take it, likewise also a bag; and the one not having, he should sell his cloak and he should buy a sword.

For I say to you that this which was written still behooves to be accomplished in me: And he was reckoned with the lawless. And for the thing concerning me has an end.

And they said: Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to them: It is enough.

And when he had gone forth, he went according to the custom to the Mount of Olives; then his disciples also followed him.

Then having come to the place, he said to them: Pray not to enter into temptation.

And he himself withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and when he had fallen on the knees, he was praying,

saying: Father, if you are willing, take away this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours, should be done.

Then a messenger from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

And having been in agony, he was praying more earnestly; and now his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.

And when he had risen up from the prayer, had come to the disciples, he found them sleeping from the grief,

and he said to them: Why are you sleeping? Having risen up, pray that you may not enter into temptation.

Now while he is still speaking, behold a crowd, and the one named Judas, one of the Twelve, was going before them, and he drew near to Jesus to kiss him.

Then Jesus said to him: Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?

Then those around him, when they had seen what will be, said to him: Lord, will we strike with the sword?

And a certain one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

Now Jesus answered and said: Allow only as far as this! And when he had touched his ear, he healed him.

Then Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders having come out against him: As against a robber have you come out with swords and clubs?

Every day being with you in the temple, you did not stretch out the hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of the darkness.

Then when they had seized him, they led him away and brought him into the home of the high priest. And Peter was following afar off.

Then they having kindled a fire around in the midst of the courtyard, and when they had sat down together, Peter was sitting in their midst.

Then a certain servant girl, when she had seen him sitting by the light and had looked intently on him, said: This one also was with him.

But he denied him, saying: I do not know him, madam.

And after a little, another having seen him was saying: You yourself also are of them. But Peter was saying: Man, I am not.

And when about one hour had elapsed, a certain other was strongly affirming it, saying: Of a truth this one also was with him; for he is also a Galilean.

But Peter said: Man, I do not know what you say. And immediately, while he is speaking, the rooster crowed.

And the Lord, when he had turned, looked at Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him that before the rooster crowing today you will deny me three times.

And when Peter had gone forth outside, he wept bitterly.

And the men who are holding him were mocking him, beating him.

And when they had blindfolded him, they were striking his face and they were questioning him, saying: Prophesy, who is the one having struck you?

And blaspheming, they were saying many other things to him.

And when it became day, the elderhood of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council,

saying: If you yourself are the Anointed One, tell us. Then he said to them: If I shall tell you, you shall certainly not trust;

then if I shall also ask you, you shall certainly not answer me, nor shall you release me.

From now on also the Son of Man will be sitting at the right hand of the power of God.

Then they all said: You yourself then are the Son of God? And he was saying to them: You yourselves say that I am.

And they said: What need have we any more of witness? We ourselves heard it from his mouth.
