¹The head of the father of the Levites was to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the head of the father of the tribes to the children of Israel.

²They spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, Yahweh commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with their pastures for our livestock.

³The children of Israel gave the Levites, from their inheritance, by the mouth of Yahweh, these cities and their pastures.

⁴The lot came out for the family of the Kohathites; and thirteen cities by lot belonged to the children of Aaron the priest, from the Levites, from the tribe of Judah, and from the tribe of the Simeonites, and from the tribe of Benjamin.

⁵And to the children of Kohath who remained, from the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and from the tribe of Dan, and from the half of the tribe of Manasseh, ten cities by lot.

⁶And to the children of Gershon, from the families of the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities by lot.

⁷To the children of Merari by their families, from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

⁸The children of Israel gave these cities and their pastures to the Levites by lot, as Yahweh had commanded by the hand of Moses.

⁹And they gave, from the tribe of the children of Judah, and from the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities that he called by name.

¹⁰And it belonged to the children of Aaron, from the clans of the Kohathites, from the children of Levi, for the first lot was theirs.

¹¹And they gave them Kiriath-arba, the father of Anak (that is Hebron), in the hill country of Judah, with its pasturelands all around it.

¹²And the field of the city and its courtyards they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.

¹³And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge for the slayer, Hebron with its pasturelands, Libnah with its pasturelands,

¹⁴and Jattir and its pastures, and Eshtemoa and its pastures,

¹⁵and Holon and its pastures, and Debir and its pastures,

¹⁶and Ain with its pasturelands, Juttah with its pasturelands, Beth-shemesh with its pasturelands: nine cities from those two tribes.

¹⁷And from the tribe of Benjamin: Gibeon and its pastures, Geba and its pastures,

¹⁸Anathoth with its pasturelands, and Almon with its pasturelands: four cities.

¹⁹All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests: thirteen cities with their pasturelands.

²⁰And to the clans of the children of Kohath, the Levites who remained from the children of Kohath, the cities of their lot came from the tribe of Ephraim.

²¹And they gave them the city of refuge for the slayer, Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer with its pasturelands,

²²and Kibzaim with its pasturelands, and Beth-horon with its pasturelands: four cities.

²³And from the tribe of Dan: Eltekeh and its pastures, Gibbethon and its pastures,

²⁴Aijalon with its pasturelands, Gath-rimmon with its pasturelands: four cities.

²⁵And from the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasturelands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasturelands: two cities.

²⁶All the cities were ten, with their pasturelands, for the clans of the children of Kohath who remained.

²⁷And to the children of Gershon, from the clans of the Levites, from the half of the tribe of Manasseh, came the city of refuge for the slayer, Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands, and Beeshtarah with its pasturelands: two cities.

²⁸And from the tribe of Issachar: Kishion and its pastures, Daberath and its pastures,

²⁹Jarmuth with its pasturelands, En-gannim with its pasturelands: four cities.

³⁰And from the tribe of Asher: Mishal and its pastures, Abdon and its pastures,

³¹Helkath with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands: four cities.

³²And from the tribe of Naphtali came the city of refuge for the slayer, Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands, Hammoth-dor with its pasturelands, and Kartan with its pasturelands: three cities.

³³All the cities of the Gershonites by their clans: thirteen cities with their pasturelands.

³⁴And to the clans of the children of Merari, the Levites who remained, from the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam with its pasturelands, Kartah with its pasturelands,

³⁵Dimnah with its pasturelands, Nahalal with its pasturelands: four cities.

³⁶And from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer and its pastures, and Jahaz and its pastures,

³⁷Kedemoth with its pasturelands, and Mephaath with its pasturelands: four cities.

³⁸And from the tribe of Gad came the city of refuge for the slayer, Ramoth in Gilead with its pasturelands, and Mahanaim with its pasturelands,

³⁹Heshbon with its pasturelands, Jazer with its pasturelands: in all, four cities.

⁴⁰All the cities for the children of Merari, by their clans, who remained of the clans of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.

⁴¹All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel: forty-eight cities with their pasturelands.

⁴²These cities were each city with its pasturelands all around it; so it was for all these cities.

⁴³And Yahweh gave to Israel all the land that he had sworn to give to their fathers; and they took possession of it and dwelt in it.

⁴⁴And Yahweh gave rest to them all around, according to all that he had sworn to their fathers; and not a man of all their enemies stood in their face; Yahweh gave all their enemies into their hand.

⁴⁵Not a word fell from all the good word that Yahweh had spoken to the house of Israel; all of it came.
