¹The lot went out for the children of Joseph from the Jordan at Jericho, to the waters of Jericho toward the sunrise, the wilderness; it went up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel.

²It went out from Bethel toward Luz, and passed on to the boundary of the Arkite at Ataroth.

³It went down seaward to the boundary of the Japhletite, as far as the boundary of Lower Beth-horon, and as far as Gezer; and its far ends were at the sea.

⁴And the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, inherited.

⁵The territory of the children of Ephraim, by their families, was as follows: the boundary of their inheritance toward the sunrise was Ataroth-addar, as far as Upper Beth-horon.

⁶The boundary went out seaward to Micmethath from the north; the boundary turned toward the sunrise to Taanath-shiloh, and passed by it on the sunrise side, to Janoah.

⁷It went down from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho, and went out at the Jordan.

⁸From Tappuah the boundary went seaward to the wadi of Kanah, and its far ends were at the sea. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families,

⁹and the cities set apart for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities and their courts.

¹⁰But they did not dispossess the Canaanite who dwelled in Gezer; so the Canaanite dwelled in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and he became a worker in the forced-labor gang.
