The lot for the tribe of the children of Judah, by their clans, reached to the boundary of Edom, the wilderness of Zin southward, at the far end of the south.
Their southern boundary ran from the end of the Salt Sea, from the tongue-shaped bay that faces south.
It went out south of the Ascent of Scorpions, passed on toward Zin, went up south of Kadesh-barnea, passed on to Hezron, went up to Addar, and turned around toward Karka.
It passed on to Azmon and went out at the wadi of Egypt; the far ends of the boundary were toward the sea. This will be your southern boundary.
The eastern boundary was the Salt Sea, as far as the end of the Jordan. The boundary on the northern corner ran from the tongue-shaped bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan.
The boundary went up to Beth-hoglah and passed on north of Beth-arabah; then the boundary went up to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
The boundary went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, and turned northward toward the Gilgal that lies opposite the Ascent of Adummim, which is south of the wadi. Then the boundary passed on to the waters of En-shemesh, and its far ends were at En-rogel.
The boundary came up the valley of Ben-hinnom to the shoulder of the Jebusite from the south, that is Jerusalem; the boundary came up to the head of the mountain which is over the face of the valley of Hinnom seaward, which is in the end of the vale of Rephaim northward.
Then the boundary turned from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the boundary turned to Baalah, that is Kiriath-jearim.
Then the boundary went round from Baalah seaward to Mount Seir, passed on to the shoulder of Mount Jearim on the north (that is Kesalon), went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah.
The boundary went out to the shoulder of Ekron northward; the boundary turned toward Shikkeron, passed on to Mount Baalah, and went out at Jabneel; and the far ends of the boundary were toward the sea.
The sea boundary was the Great Sea, with its territory. This is the boundary of the children of Judah all around, by their clans.
To Caleb son of Jephunneh he gave a portion in the midst of the children of Judah, by the mouth of Yahweh to Joshua: Kiriath-arba, the father of Anak, that is Hebron.
From there Caleb dispossessed the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, those born of Anak.
From there he went up against those who dwelled in Debir. The name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.
Caleb said, Whoever strikes Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him my daughter Achsah as a wife.
Othniel son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it, and he gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife.
When she arrived, she incited him to ask her father for a field. Then she got down from the donkey, and Caleb said to her, What do you want?
She said, Give me a blessing; for you have given me the land of the Negev, so give me springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
This was the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah, by their clans.
