¹Now Joshua was old, advanced in days, and Yahweh said to him: You are old, advanced in days, and very much of the land remains to be taken into possession.

²This is the land that remains: all the territories of the Philistines, and all the Geshurites,

³from the Shihor, which is over the face of Egypt, and as far as the border of Ekron northward, it is reckoned to the Canaanite; the five lords of the Philistines: the Gazite, the Ashdodite, the Ashkelonite, the Gittite, and the Ekronite; and the Avvites.

⁴From the south: all the land of the Canaanite, and Mearah, which belongs to the Sidonians, as far as Aphek, as far as the border of the Amorite;

⁵and the land of the Gebalite, and all the Lebanon toward the sunrise, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

⁶All who dwell in the mountain, from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, all the Sidonians: I will dispossess them from the face of the children of Israel; only cause it to fall to Israel by lot as an inheritance, just as I commanded you.

⁷And now divide this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh.

⁸With it the Reubenite and the Gadite took their inheritance, which Moses gave them on the other side of the Jordan eastward, just as Moses the slave of Yahweh gave to them:

⁹from Aroer, which is on the edge of the wadi of Arnon, and the city in the middle of the wadi, and all the plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon;

¹⁰and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorite, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the children of Ammon;

¹¹and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurite and the Maacathite, and all the mountain of Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah;

¹²all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei—he was left over from the remnant of the Rephaim; and Moses struck them and dispossessed them.

¹³And the children of Israel did not dispossess the Geshurite and the Maacathite; Geshur and Maacah have dwelled in the midst of Israel to this day.

¹⁴Only to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance; the fire offerings of Yahweh the God of Israel, that is his inheritance, as he had spoken to him.

¹⁵And Moses gave to the tribe of the children of Reuben, by their families.

¹⁶Their boundary was from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Arnon wadi, and the city which is in the middle of the wadi, and all the plateau by Medeba;

¹⁷Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plateau: Dibon and Bamoth-baal and Beth-baal-meon,

¹⁸and Jahaz and Kedemoth and Mephaath,

¹⁹and Kiriathaim and Sibmah and Zereth-shahar on the mountain of the vale,

²⁰and Beth-peor and the slopes of Pisgah and Beth-ha-jeshimoth,

²¹and all the cities of the plateau, and all the kingdom of Sihon the king of the Amorite, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses struck along with the chiefs of Midian: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon who dwelled in the land.

²²And the children of Israel killed Balaam son of Beor, the diviner, with the sword among their slain.

²³And the boundary of the children of Reuben was the Jordan and its boundary. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben by their families, the cities and their villages.

²⁴And Moses gave to the tribe of Gad, to the children of Gad, by their families.

²⁵Their boundary was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half of the land of the children of Ammon, as far as Aroer, which is over the face of Rabbah;

²⁶and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the boundary of Debir;

²⁷and in the vale Beth-haram and Beth-nimrah and Succoth and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon the king of Heshbon, the Jordan and its boundary, to the end of the sea of Kinnereth, on the side of the Jordan eastward.

²⁸This is the inheritance of the children of Gad by their families, the cities and their villages.

²⁹And Moses gave to half of the tribe of Manasseh; and it belonged to half of the tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.

³⁰Their boundary was from Mahanaim, all of Bashan, all the kingdom of Og the king of Bashan, and all the tent-villages of Jair that are in Bashan, sixty cities;

³¹and half of Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, belonged to the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, to half of the children of Machir by their families.

³²These are what Moses gave as a possession in the desert-plains of Moab, from the far side of the Jordan at Jericho, eastward.

³³And to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; Yahweh the God of Israel, he is their inheritance, as he had spoken to them.
