Joshua1

It happened, after the death of Moses the slave of Yahweh, that Yahweh said to Joshua the son of Nun, who served Moses, saying:

Moses my slave has died. Now rise, pass over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the children of Israel.

Every place that the sole of your foot treads on, I have given to you, as I spoke to Moses.

From the wilderness and this Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the great sea at the setting of the sun, will be your territory.

No one will take a stand before your face all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, I will be with you; I will not let go of you, and I will not forsake you.

Be strong and prevail, for you will cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give to them.

Only be strong and prevail exceedingly, to keep to doing according to all the instruction that Moses my slave commanded you. Do not turn aside from it to the right or to the left, so that you may act wisely wherever you go.

The scroll of this instruction will not depart from your mouth; you will murmur in it day and night, so that you may keep to doing according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your ways prosper, and then you will act wisely.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and bold; do not be terrified and do not be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:

Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, saying: Prepare provisions for yourselves, for in three more days, you are about to pass over this Jordan, to go in and take possession of the land that Yahweh your God is giving you to take possession of it.

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said, saying:

Remember the word that Moses the slave of Yahweh commanded you, saying: Yahweh your God is giving rest to you, and he will give you this land.

Your wives, your children, and your livestock will dwell in the land that Moses gave you on the far side of the Jordan; but you will pass over armed before the face of your brothers, all the mighty men of strength, and you will help them.

Until Yahweh gives rest to your brothers as to you, and they also take possession of the land that Yahweh your God is giving them; then you will return to the land of your possession and take possession of it, which Moses the slave of Yahweh gave you on the far side of the Jordan toward the rising of the sun.

They answered Joshua, saying: All that you commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so we will listen to you; only may Yahweh your God be with you, as he was with Moses.

Any man who rebels against your mouth, and does not listen to your words, in all that you command him, will be put to death. Only be strong and prevail.
