Jonah2

And Jonah prayed to Yahweh his God from inside the fish.

He said: "Out of my distress I called to Yahweh, and he answered me; from the belly of Sheol I cried for help, and you heard my voice."

You threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and a river surrounds me; all your breakers and your waves have passed over me.

And I said: "I have been driven away from before your eyes; nevertheless I will again look toward your sacred temple."

Waters have encompassed me, up to my neck; the deep surrounds me; reeds are bound about my head.

To the extremities of the mountains I went down; the land with its bars was behind me forever. But you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.

When my life was fainting away within me, I remembered Yahweh, and my prayer came to you, into your sacred temple.

Those who observe empty vanities abandon their loyal love.

But I, with a voice of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will fulfill. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.

And Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah onto dry land.
