Job19

Job answered and said:

How long will you grieve my being and will you crush me with words?

These ten times you have insulted me; you are not ashamed that you wrong me.

And even if I have truly erred, my error lodges with me.

If truly you make yourselves great over me and argue my disgrace against me,

Know then that God has wronged me, and his net has encircled me.

Look, I cry out, 'Violence!' and I am not answered; I cry for help, and there is no justice.

He has walled up my way, and I cannot pass; and over my paths he sets darkness.

He has stripped off my weightiness from me, and removed the crown from my head.

He tears me down all around, and I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree.

His anger blazed against me, and he reckoned me as one of his own foes.

His raiding bands have come together, have cast up their way against me, and have camped all around my tent.

He has put far away my brothers from me, and my acquaintances have surely become estranged from me.

My near ones have ceased, and those who knew me have forgotten me.

Those who sojourn in my house and my maidservants reckon me a stranger; I have become a foreigner in their eyes.

I call to my slave, and he does not answer; with my own mouth I implore him for favor.

My breath is loathsome to my wife, and I am repulsive to the children of my womb.

Even young boys reject me; when I rise, they speak against me.

All the men of my council abhor me, and those I loved have turned against me.

My bone clings to my skin and to my flesh, and I have escaped with the skin of my teeth.

Show me favor, show me favor, you, my friends, for the hand of God has touched me.

Why do you run after me as God does, and are never sated with my flesh?

If only my words were written down! If only they were inscribed on a scroll!

With an iron stylus and lead, may they be engraved in the rock forever!

And I know that my redeemer lives, and at last he will rise upon the dust.

And after my skin is struck off in this way, from my flesh I will see God.

whom I will see for myself, and my own eyes have seen, and not as a stranger; my kidneys are spent within my bosom.

If you say, 'How shall we run after him?' and the root of the word is found in me,

Be afraid for yourselves before the face of the sword, for anger brings the punishments of the sword, so that you may know there is a judgment.
