John4

Therefore when Jesus knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus makes more disciples and immerses than John —

and certainly indeed Jesus Himself was not immersing, but his disciples —

He left Judea and went away again into Galilee.

Now it was necessary for Him to pass through Samaria.

Therefore He comes to a city of Samaria named Sychar, nearby the plot of ground that Jacob gave to Joseph his son;

now the well of Jacob was there. Therefore Jesus, already wearying from the journey, was sitting thus at the well; the hour was about the sixth.

A woman comes out of Samaria to draw water. Jesus says to her, "Give Me to drink."

For his disciples had gone away into the city, that they may buy food.

Therefore the Samaritan woman says to Him, "How do you yourself, being a Jew, ask to drink from me, being a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have not association with Samaritans.

Jesus answered and said to her, "If you had known the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, 'Give Me to drink,' you yourself then would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."

The woman says to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; from where then have You the water which is living?

Are You yourself greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and himself drank its, and his sons, and his livestock?"

Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who is drinking of this water will thirst again;

however whoever may drink of the water that I myself will give to him, certainly will not thirst forever; instead the water that I will give to him will become in him a spring of water welling up into eternal life."

The woman says to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw."

Jesus says to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here."

The woman answered and said to Him, "I have not a husband." Jesus says to her, "Correctly you have spoken, that 'A husband I have not';

for five husbands you have had, and now he whom you have is not your husband; this truly you have spoken."

The woman says to Him, "Sir, I understand that You yourself are a prophet.

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you yourselves say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship."

Jesus says to her, "Trust Me, madam, that an hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

You yourselves worship what you do not know; we ourselves worship what we know, for the salvation is of the Jews.

But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father also seeks such who worship Him.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him it behooves to worship in spirit and truth."

The woman says to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming, who is called the Anointed One; when He may come, He will tell us all things."

Jesus says to her, "I am He, who is speaking to you."

And upon this his disciples came and were amazed that He was speaking with a woman; however no one said, "What do You seek?" or "Why do You speak with her?"

Then the woman left her water pot and went away into the city and says to the men,

"Come, see a man who told me all things, as much as I did; surely not ever this is the Anointed One?"

Therefore they went forth out of the city and were coming unto Him.

Now in the meantime the disciples were asking Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat."

But He said to them, "I myself have food to eat that you yourselves do not know."

Therefore the disciples were saying to one another, "Surely not one did bring Him something to eat?"

Jesus says to them, "My own food is that I may do the will of the One who sent Me, and may finish his work.

Do you yourselves not say that yet four months it is, and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and see the fields, because white they are toward harvest already!

And the one who reaps receives a wage and gathers fruit unto eternal life, so that both who is sowing and who is reaping may rejoice together.

For in this the saying is true, that one is who is sowing and another is the one who reaps.

I myself sent you to reap what you yourselves have not toiled for; others have toiled, and you yourselves have entered into their labor."

Now out of that city many of the Samaritans trusted in Him because of the word of the woman testifying that "He told me all things whatever I did."

Therefore when the Samaritans came to Him, they were asking Him to abide with them; and He stayed there two days.

And many more trusted because of his word,

and to the woman they were saying that "No longer because of your speech do we trust; for we ourselves have heard and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world, the Anointed One."

Then after the two days He went forth from there and went away into Galilee.

For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has not honor in the own hometown.

When therefore He came into Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all things, how much He had done in Jerusalem during the festival; for themselves also they had gone to the festival.

Therefore He came, Jesus, again to Cana of Galilee, where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son was sick in Capernaum.

He having heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, went to Him and was asking him that He may come down and may heal his son; for he was about to die.

Therefore Jesus said to him, "Unless you people may see signs and wonders, certainly you shall not trust."

The royal official says to Him, "Sir, come down before my child to die."

Jesus says to him, "Go, your son lives." And the man trusted in the word that Jesus said to him, and he was going.

Then already when he is going down, his slaves met with him and reported, saying that his boy lives.

Therefore he inquired the hour from them in which he got better. And they said therefore to him that "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."

Therefore the father knew that it was in that very hour at which Jesus said to him that "Your son lives." And he himself trusted, and his household all.

Now this is again the second sign Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
