John20

Now on the first day of the week Mary the Magdalene comes early, while it being still dark, to the tomb, and she sees the stone removed from the tomb.

So she runs and comes to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus was loving, and she says to them: They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.

So Peter and the other disciple went forth and were coming to the tomb;

now the two were running together, and the other disciple ran ahead quicker than Peter and came first to the tomb,

and when he had stooped down, he sees the linen cloths lying there, but he did not enter.

Then Simon Peter also comes, following after him, and he entered into the tomb and sees the linen cloths lying there,

and the cloth which was upon his head not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up by itself in a place.

So then the other disciple also entered, the one who had come first to the tomb, and he saw and trusted;

for they did not yet know the Scripture, that it is necessary for him to rise out from the dead.

So the disciples went away again to their homes.

But Mary had stood at the tomb outside, weeping; so as she was weeping, she stooped down into the tomb,

and she sees two messengers in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus was laying.

And they say to her: Madam, why do you weep? She says to them: Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.

And when she had said these things, she turned to the back and sees Jesus already standing there, and did not know that it is Jesus.

Jesus says to her: Madam, why do you weep? Whom do you seek? She, thinking that he is the gardener, says to him: Sir, if you yourself carried him off, tell me where you have laid him, and I myself will take him away.

Jesus says to her: Mary. Having turned around, she says to him in Hebrew: Rabboni, that is to say, Teacher.

Jesus says to her: Do not touch me yourself, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers and say to them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.

Mary the Magdalene comes, reporting to the disciples that I have seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.

So when it being evening of that same first day of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were assembled through the fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and says to them: Wholeness to you.

And when he had said this, he showed also the hands and his side to them. Then the disciples rejoiced, having seen the Lord.

So Jesus said to them again: Wholeness to you; even as the Father has sent forth me, I myself also send you.

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and says to them: Receive the Holy Spirit.

If you may forgive the sins of any, they have been forgiven to them; if you may retain any, they have been retained.

But Thomas, one of the Twelve, who is named Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

So the other disciples were saying to him: We have seen the Lord. But he said to them: Unless I shall see in his hands the mark of the nails, and shall put my finger into the mark of the nails, and shall put my hand into his side, I shall certainly not trust.

And after eight days, his disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors shut, and he stood in the midst and said: Wholeness to you.

Then he says to Thomas: Bring your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and be not untrusting but believing.

And Thomas answered and said to him: O my Lord and O my God!

Jesus says to him: Because you have seen me, Thomas, you have trusted; yet blessed are those not having seen, having believed.

So Jesus indeed did many other signs also in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.

But these have been written that you may trust that Jesus is the Anointed One, the Son of God, and that, trusting, you may have life in his name.
