I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes it away; and every one that bears fruit, He prunes it, so that it may bear more fruit.
Already you yourselves are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.
Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I Myself am the vine, you are the branches. The one abiding in Me Myself and I Myself in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you are not able to do anything.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown out like the branch and withers; and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and it is burned.
If you shall abide in Me and my words shall abide in you, whatever you shall wish, ask, and it will happen to you.
In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.
Just as the Father has loved Me, I myself also loved you; abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love; just as I myself have kept my Father's commandments, and I abide in His love.
These things I have spoken to you so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be full.
This is my commandment, that you may love one another even as I loved you.
No one has greater selfless love than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
You yourselves are my friends, if you do whatever I myself command you.
No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because everything that I heard from my Father I have made known to you.
You yourselves did not choose Me, but I myself chose you and appointed you, so that you yourselves may go and bear fruit, and your fruit may remain; so that whatever you may ask the Father in my name, He may give you.
These things I command you, that you may love one another.
If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before you.
If you were of the world, the world would be loving what is its own; but because you are not of the world, but I myself chose you out of the world, on account of this the world hates you.
Remember the word that I myself said to you: A slave is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
But all these things they will do against you on account of my name, because they do not know the One who sent Me.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
The one who hates Me also hates my Father.
If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both Me and my Father.
But this is so that the word written in their law may be fulfilled: 'They hated Me without cause.'
But when the Advocate comes, whom I myself will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who goes out from the Father, that One will bear witness about Me.
And you yourselves also bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
