Now before the festival of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that His hour had come that He may depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
And supper taking place, the accuser already having put into the heart of Judas son of Simon Iscariot that he may betray Him,
Jesus, knowing that the Father has given all things into His hands, and that from God He came forth and to God He is going,
rises from the supper and lays aside His garments, and when He had taken a towel, He girded Himself.
After that He pours water into the basin, and He began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them with the towel with which He was having girded Himself.
Then He comes to Simon Peter; and he says to Him that question: Lord, do You Yourself wash my feet?
Jesus answered and said to him: What I Myself do, you yourself do not know presently, however you will know after these things.
Peter says to Him: Certainly You shall not wash my feet forever. Jesus answered him: Unless I shall wash you, you have no part with Me.
Simon Peter says to Him: Lord, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.
Jesus says to him: The one who has bathed himself has no need except to wash the feet, but is wholly clean; and you yourselves are clean, but not all.
For He knew the one who was betraying Him; on account of this He said that not all of you are clean.
When therefore He had washed their feet and taken His garments and reclined again, He said to them: Do you know what I have done to you?
You yourselves call Me the Teacher and the Lord, and rightly you say, for so I am.
Therefore if I Myself, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you yourselves also ought to wash one another's feet;
For I gave you a pattern, that even as I Myself did to you, you yourselves also may do.
Amen, I say to you: a slave is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who having sent him.
If you know these things, blessed are you if you shall do them.
I speak not about all of you; I Myself know whom I chose; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled: The one eating the bread with Me lifted up his heel against Me.
From now I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that you may trust when it may happen that I am He.
Amen, I say to you: the one who receives whomever I shall send receives Me; now the one receiving Me receives the One who sent Me.
When He had said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and He testified and said: Amen, I say to you that one of you will betray Me.
Therefore the disciples were looking upon one another, being uncertain of whom He is speaking.
Now there was reclining in the bosom of Jesus one of His disciples whom Jesus was loving;
Therefore Simon Peter motions to him and says to him to ask who it would be about whom He is speaking.
Then when he had thus leaned on the breast of Jesus, he says to Him: Lord, who is it?
Therefore Jesus answers: He it is to whom I Myself will dip the morsel and will give it to him. And when He had dipped the morsel, He takes it and gives it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot.
And after the morsel, then the adversary entered into him. Therefore Jesus says to him: What you enact, enact quicker.
Now no one of those reclining knew to what He spoke this to him.
For some were thinking, since Judas had the money bag, that Jesus is saying to him: Buy what things we have need of for the festival, or that he may give something to the poor.
Therefore having received the morsel, he went out immediately; now it was night.
When therefore he had gone out, Jesus says: Now has the Son of Man been glorified, and God has been glorified in Him,
If God is glorified in Him, also God will glorify Him in Himself, and immediately will glorify Him.
Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek Me, and even as I said to the Jews that where I Myself go you yourselves are not able to come, also to you I say now.
A new commandment I give to you, that you may love one another; even as I have loved you, so also you yourselves may love one another.
By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among one another.
Simon Peter says to Him: Lord, where go You? Jesus answered him: Where I go you are not able to follow Me now; however you will follow me afterward.
Peter says to Him: Lord, because of why am I not able to follow You presently? My life for You I will lie down.
Jesus answers him: Your life for Me will you lay down? Amen, I say to you: certainly the rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.
