Therefore Jesus, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who having died, whom Jesus raised out from the dead.
Therefore they made for Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; and Lazarus was one of those reclining with Him.
Therefore Mary, having taken a pound of fragrant oil of nard, pure, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; now the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
However Judas of Simon Iscariot, one of his disciples, who is being about to betray Him, says,
"Because of why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"
However he said this not because it mattered to him about the poor, but because he was a thief and having the money bag, and he was pilfering what was put into it.
Therefore Jesus said, "Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial;
For the poor you always have with yourselves, however Me you have not always."
Therefore a great crowd of the Jews knew that He is there, and they came not because of Jesus only but that also they may see Lazarus, whom He had raised out from the dead.
However the chief priests took counsel that also they may kill Lazarus,
Because on his account many of the Jews were going away and were trusting in Jesus.
On the next day the great crowd having come to the festival, having heard that Jesus is coming into Jerusalem,
Took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him and were shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is the One coming in the name of the Lord! And the King of Israel!"
Then when He had found a young donkey, Jesus sat upon it, even as it is written,
"Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King comes, sitting on a colt of a donkey."
Now these things his disciples did not know from the first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and these things they had done to Him.
Therefore the crowd which is being with Him was bearing witness, when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him out from the dead.
On account of this also the crowd met with Him, because they heard of His to have done this sign.
Therefore the Pharisees said among themselves, "You see that you gain no thing? Behold, the world wholly has gone after Him."
Now there were certain Greeks among those coming up that they may worship at the festival.
Therefore these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were asking him, saying, "Sir, we desire to see Jesus."
Philip comes and tells Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip come and they tell Jesus.
And Jesus answered to them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man may be glorified.
Amen I say to you, unless the grain of wheat, having fallen into the ground, shall die, it abides alone; however if it shall die, it bears much fruit.
The one who loves his life loses it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.
If anyone shall serve Me, he should follow Me; and where I myself am, there also my servant will be. And if anyone shall serve Me, the Father will honor him.
Now my being has been troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, rescue Me from this hour'? But on account of this I came to this hour.
Father, glorify your name." Therefore a voice came from the heaven, "Both I have glorified it and again I will glorify it."
Therefore the crowd which already standing, when it had heard it, was saying it to have been thunder. Others were saying, "A messenger has spoken to Him."
Jesus answered and said, "Not because of myself this voice has come, but because of you.
Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out,
And I myself, if I shall be lifted up from the land, will draw all to Myself."
Now this He was saying, signifying by what death He was about to die.
Therefore the crowd answered to Him, "We ourselves heard from the law that the Anointed One abides forever, and how say you yourself that it behooves the Son of Man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?"
Therefore Jesus said to them, "Yet a little while the light is among you. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness you may not grasp; and the one walking in the darkness knows not where he is going.
While you have the light, trust in the light, so that you may become sons of light." Jesus spoke these things, and when he had gone away, He was hidden from them.
However, though he had done so many signs before them, they were not trusting in Him,
So that the word of Isaiah the prophet may be fulfilled that said, "Lord, who has trusted in our report? And the arm of the Lord, to whom has it been revealed?"
Because of this they were not able to trust, for again Isaiah said,
"He has blinded their eyes and has hardened their heart, that they may not see with the eyes and may understand with the heart and may turn, and I will heal them."
Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke concerning Him.
Indeed nevertheless even many of the rulers trusted in Him, but on account of the Pharisees they were not confessing, so that they may not be put out of the synagogue.
For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
Then Jesus cried out and said, "The one trusting in Me trusts not in Me but in the One who sent Me;
And the one who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me.
I myself have come a light into the world, so that everyone who is trusting in Me may not abide in the darkness.
And if anyone shall hear My words and shall not keep them, I myself do not judge him; for I came not that I may judge the world but that I may rescue the world.
The one rejecting Me and not receiving my words has one judging him: the word which I spoke, that one will judge him in the last day.
For I myself did not speak from Myself, but the Father Himself having sent Me has given Me a commandment, what I may say and what I may speak.
And I know that his commandment is eternal life. Therefore what I myself speak, even as the Father has said to Me, so I speak.
